Obituary

Kersten Keplin, age 23, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 in Wahpeton, ND.


Kersten Dane Keplin, aka Chubba, was born on April 21, 1996. He was born and raised in Belcourt, ND. His parents are Skip and Donna Keplin-Jeanotte. He attended school at Turtle Mountain Community Schools. Kersten graduated from high school in the year of 2014. He attended college at TMCC.


Kersten was engaged to Jaylyn DeCoteau. Together they have two children, Kallyn and Kenzleigh Keplin. He is also the father of Zaidyn and Zophia Demery.


Kersten was an excellent father. This is something that he took deep pride in and he took care of his children daily. Kersten played football and basketball in high school. At the present time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and loved gaming with friends of all ages. Kersten enjoyed spending quality time with close family and friends. His personality consisted of making all around him smile and laugh. Anyone who knew or met him immediately loved his jokes and charisma.


Kersten is survived by his parents, Skip and Donna Keplin-Jeanotte; Fiance, Jaylyn DeCoteau; children, Zaidyn Demery, Zophia Demery, Kallyn Keplin, and Kenzleigh Keplin; and siblings, Brock Keplin, Tim Jeanotte, Keanan Poitra, Devin Poitra, Weston Gourneau, Lucretia McGillis, Savannah LaRocque, Cheyenne LaRocque, and Breanna Walette.


Kersten was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dave and Martha Keplin, Dennis McGillis, and Lucille Amyotte, and great grandfather, Louis "LaGroo" McGillis.


Casket Bearers are Tristan Keplin, Landyn "Buddy" Keplin, Chale Keplin, Jalen Jeanotte, Damon "Dewey" Poitra, and Ty Marcellais. Honorary Bearers are Kenley Crissler, Tanner Crissler, Kyle Charette, Tanner Crissler, Tyson Keplin, Kyle Monette, Braeden Allery, and all of his friends. Music by Richard Turcotte, Ryan Keplin, and Martin Trottier. Pall placed by Brock and Tim. Eucharistic Gifts by Godparents, Sharon Brunelle and Pat Keplin. Readers are Joee Keplin, Leslie Keplin, Shayle Keplin, and Shelby Keplin. Rosary led by Jeannie Jollie and Phyllis Jollie. Eulogy by Krystal LaRocque.


A visistation will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the church with Father Richard Fineo presiding. Burial will be at a later date in St. Benedict's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
