Kenneth Pigeon, age 82, of Enderlin, ND formerly of Rolette, ND passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, ND.

Kenneth Daniel Pigeon, known as "Kenny or Ken" to many, was born on October 31, 1937 in Rolette, ND to Theodore "Ted" and Cleora (Fassett) Pigeon.  He was united in marriage to Karen Johnson on November 28, 1969 and together they raised three children, Kendra, Kory, and Kristal.   They later divorced.  Kenny worked as a farmer throughout his life and retired from farming as well.  He always had a smile on his face and was a sweet and funny person.  He moved to different Assistant Living places in the Fargo/Moorhead area the last few years and each place said that they loved him dearly, his spirit and his smile.  He had a great sense of humor and loved his grandchildren dearly, honored that his youngest grandchild, Jameson, had his middle name.  He always wanted his daughter Kristal to have a daughter and joked that she needed a spoiled brat like herself.  Her reply was that he already had two perfect little boys, so why ruin that?  He loved to have his grandsons visit and always wanted to spend time with them unless the Colts were playing on TV, then it was quiet time and nearly impossible.  He loved watching NFL football and was an avid Colts fan, since the Johnny Unitas days and was happy when Peyton Manning joined the team.  He often said he was going to be the next big thing and he definitely was!  He often talked on the phone about football and often made fun of the Vikings, his nephew Todd's favorite team or the Bronco's, his son-in-law's favorite team.  Small wagers were placed on his team to win!

Kenny enjoyed old country music and would take his kids to several concerts at the Minot State Fair including the Oak Ridge Boys, Dwight Yokam, Ricky Van Shelton, Lorie Morgan, Pam Tillis, Hank Williams Junior, and many more.  Kenny and Karen instilled a love of music into their children.  Kenneth never missed a game that his children played in and would offer a critique of the performance following the event.  He always let them know there was room for improvement and he instilled a drive within them to get better and work hard.  He played endless games of horse and around the world with Kristal, which she loved.

Kenny liked to play cards and would often join his friends at the "mall" in Rolette to have coffee, joke around and play cards.  They also played at the golf course on men's steak night.  He was good at cards, especially whist; he could remember what was played even up until his last years, to the amazement of many.  While in assisted living he always played cards with a group of friends and Kristal would join in when she could which was fun and made Kenny very happy.  Kenneth loved food – meat, potatoes and sweets.  He enjoyed his steak a certain way and had to have potato, toast, and salad along with it.  He loved hanging out at Karen's house because she always had mountains of treats, especially when it was holiday time and/or the kids were coming home, the grandkids adding in another dimension of sweets!

Kenny was a very particular man and had specific items that Kristal brought him while living in assisted living.  If something wasn't right, he would let her know and off to the store she would go.  Deep down she felt he just needed to see her more often so she was at his apartment twice a week with orders.  He knew she loved shopping so she didn't mind and thought it was funny how he would run out of things at different times.  Kenny retired from farming due to his health which he was not happy about.  He would have lived and died at the farm, if he could have.  He loved farming and caring for his cows no matter how rough times got.  Kristal traveled with him to different livestock auctions where they would have the best burgers and could actually hear the mooing as they ate.  They traveled together to buy hay for the cows and equipment that was needed but only if it was raining.  She often prayed for rain so that they could take a trip together.  Kenny was a great man.  His children love him and miss him dearly but know that he is watching over them always.

Kenny is survived by his children, Kendra Pigeon of Minot, Kory Pigeon of Las Vegas, NV, and Kristal (Justin) Johnson of Kindred; grandsons, Jameson (12) and Gavin Johnson (9); and siblings, Renee Pigeon, Laurie Pigeon, Dean Pigeon, Margaret Fox, Alva Pigeon, and Robert Pigeon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Curtis, sister Beverly, and ex-wife, Karen Pigeon.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church, Rolette, ND with Pastor Rob Roice officiating.
