Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" Langan, age 89, of St. John, ND passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Bottineau Good Samaritan Center, Bottineau, ND.

Kenneth Leo "Kenny" Langan was born on July 16, 1935 in Belcourt, ND to Regina Langan (Elliot.  He was raised in the St. John area by Gregory and Geniveve Diagnault.  He joined the United States Army in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1959.  He married Shirley Allard, the love of his life, on April 21, 1960.  Together they had two beautiful children, LaRon and Marlin.  They started their home in the Turtle Mountains.  He was recalled back to the military in 1961 and spent a year at Fort Lewis Washington, getting discharged in 1962.  He came home and got in the relocation program and moved to Long Beach California, where he obtained his GED and an associate degree in sheet metal trade.  He worked for a company called Stretch Forming, running machinery and bending metal.  Earthquakes were too much for Shirley and they moved back to the Turtle Mountains.  They built a new home and he went to work for North West Piping becoming the general foreman for Bill DeMontigny. The did numerous projects across ND, SD, MN, and Tuba City, AZ.  It was time to be home with Shirley and be done traveling.  He took a job at the casino as a janitor.  Later Kenny applied at the IHS Hospital and was hired for housekeeping.  He worked there for 20 years, finally retiring at the age of 78.  As his health declined, he moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Bottineau where he spent his last years and a half

Kenny is survived by his wife, Shirley; sister, Patsy; daughter, LaRon (Kevin) Eller; son, Marlin (Mickie) Langan; grandchildren, Kevin Jr. (Jennifer) of Belcourt, Amelia (Derrick) Wilkie of Devils Lake, Frank Eller, Leonard (Jenna Desjarlais) Eller of Belcourt, Frank Eller of Minneapolis, MN, Aimee (Eric) Taylor of Newtown, Jodi Langan of Belcourt, and Brier Langan; of Newtown; great grandchildren, Autumn, Avery, Mallie, Makale, Meela, Jackson, Scarlet, Lennox, Shelby, Alex, Gene, Conner, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by his mother, Regina, Gregory and Geniveve Diagnault, brothers, Marvin YoungMan Bald Eagle Ron Elliot, Gerald Elliot, George Diagnault, Joe Diagnault, Art Diagnault, Josaphine Jeanotte, Frank and Amelia Allard, Bob Haas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Senior Center, St. John, ND.
