Kenneth DeCoteau, age 70, of Dunseith, ND passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022 in Rochester, Minnesota.
Kenneth "Kenny" Harold DeCoteau was born on May 17, 1952, the son of Benjamin and LaRose (St. Claire) DeCoteau in Belcourt, ND. He attended school at Dunseith Day and Wahpeton Indian School. Kenny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in Okinawa, receiving an honorable discharge. He attended United Tribes in Bismarck learning a trade in auto body work. Kenny married Patricia Lilley in April 0f 1977. Together they had six children.
Kenny is survived by his children, Dawn Rae, Garrett, Kenneth Jr. (Carmen), Collin, Priscilla (Garren), and Jordan (Cayla); grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Gary (Elaine) DeCoteau of Isanti, MN, Earl "Ducks" DeCoteau of Flandreau, SD, Raphael (Carla) DeCoteau, LeRoy (Wendy) DeCoteau, Gene (Kim) DeCoteau, Terry (Myrna) DeCoteau, all of Dunseith; sisters, Betty Swain, Shirley Belgarde, Lolly Lindquist, Dean DeCoteau, and Esther DeCoteau, all of Dunseith; sister-in-law, Sherry Sanchez DeCoteau of Trenton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Rose DeCoteau, wife, Patty, brothers, Leslie and Wesley DeCoteau, sister, Ella "Susie" Davis, brothers-in-law, Allen "Kumish" Davis, Richie Lindquist, Dennis Counts, James "Smiley" Belgarde, and Darrold Krumweide, sister-in-law, Kimberly DeCoteau, grandparents, Fred and Philomene (Azure) DeCoteau and Robert and Alice (Norquay) St. Claire, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Eagle Heart Cultural Center (Log Cabin), Dunseith, ND. Funeral Services will be Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Eagle Heart Cultural Center (Log Cabin), Dunseith, ND. Burial will follow funeral services at St. Sylvan's Episcopal Cemetery, rural Dunseith.
