Karen Jaste, age 69, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Karen A. Jaste was born on June 27, 1954 in Belcourt, ND to Frank and Delima (Poitra) Jaste (Zaste). She completed her education in California and furthered her education after high school at Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt for two years.  Karen was the proud mother of a daughter, Rochelle.  She worked at TMC and Uniband in Belcourt for many years.  Karen enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, watching game shows, and having coffee and talking on the phone with family and friends.  Spending time with her grandson and her daughter brought her much joy, as well as her faithful companion, her dog, Roman. Karen will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Rochelle Counts of Dunseith; grandson, Terrell Counts of Dunseith; sister, Rose Marie (James Sr.) Parisien of Belcourt; brother-in-law, Bill Phillips of Cisco, TX; and nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Delima Jaste, sister, Diane Phillips, brothers, Allan Jaste and Jerry Jaste, granddaughter, Chantell Counts, nephews, Jesse Parisien and Gene Phillips, and niece, Becky Lenoir.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.
