Kara Brien, age 43, of Belcourt, ND passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, at her home in Belcourt, ND.

Kara Elizabeth Brien, "North Star Woman", Giiwedin'anung, was born on June 30, 1979, in Belcourt, ND to Carl and Wanda (Wilkie) Brien. She was raised in Belcourt and completed her education there as well. Kara was united in marriage to Chad Jeanotte on July 10, 2021. She was blessed with four children Kourtney, Kami, Kirstien, and Gerald. Kara worked as cook at the Retirement Home in Belcourt for many years. She enjoyed riding ATV and traveling, especially to the beach. She also liked to get her nails done.  Kara loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Kara is survived by her husband, Chad Jeanotte of Belcourt; children, Kourtney Fleetwood of Grand Forks, Kami (Tyler) Fleetwood of Grand Forks, Kirstien (Seth) Fleetwood of Grand Forks, and Gerald Fleetwood of Belcourt; grandchildren, Kieran "Broccoli" Dionne, Sydel "Squid" Greene, Rhias "Pickle" Gillis, and Sicily "Sissy" Greene; her father, Carl Brien of Belcourt; siblings, Craig (Jennifer) Brien of Dunseith, Chasity (Bobby) LaVallie of Belcourt, Phillip (Sharlene) Brien of St. John, Suzanne (Ethan) Brien of Belcourt, and Dana (JJ) Lenior of Belcourt; and nieces and nephews.

Kara is preceded in death by her mother Wanda (Wilkie) Brien.

Casket Bearers are AJ Charette, Kevin Parisien, Kevin Morin, Seth Gillis, Gordon Brien, and Johnny Brien.  Honorary Bearers are Dylan DeCoteau, Bobby LaVallie, and Trey Michael Brien.

A visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND with Funeral Services concluding on Friday, February 17, 2023.  Burial will be in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND in the spring.
