Julia Henry, age 56, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at her home
Julia Ann Henry, Black Bird Woman, was born on July 13, 1967 in Rolla, ND to Edwin and Sally (Dionne) Henry. She was raised in Belcourt and completed her education there as well, furthering her education at Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt and University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Julia was the proud mother of three children, Jerry, Shantel, and Shannah. She worked at the Wahpeton Indian School for several years. Julia enjoyed reading, shopping, rummage sales, making crafts, and native dance. She liked the outdoors, going for walks and picking berries. Julia loved to spend time with her children, her grandchildren, and her family. She was a loving and caring person, often taking care of nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Julia is survived by her children, Jerry Joseph "JJ" (Deseraye) Brien of Parshall, Shantel (Skye) Brien of Belcourt, and Shannah (Rayvin) DuBois of Belcourt; seven grandchildren, Kalon Brien, Alyssa Brien, Liam DuBois, Konner Brien, Hunter Brien, Kingston DuBois, and Natalie DuBois; siblings, Larry (Kathy) Henry of Belcourt, Martin Henry of Belcourt, Robert Henry of Bismarck, Rosie Davis of Minot, Debbie (Dewey) Hosie of White Shield, Sharon Elk of Brandon, MB, Theresa Henry of Sioux Falls, SD, Roxanne Henry of Belcourt, and Nancy Henry of Rolla; and many nieces and nephews.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Kenny Davis, grandson, Rylan DuBois, and nieces, Chanel Davis and Ashley Rose.
Wake services will begin at 6:00 PM on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Eagle Heart Cultural Center, Dunseith, ND with funeral services beginning at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Eagle Heart Cultural Center, Dunseith, ND.
