In Celebration of a Beautiful Life

Judy Ann (Lucke) Ravnaas, age 65, took her place in Heaven on November 18, 2020. Judy was surrounded by her loving family and spent her final days being cared for at Presentation Medical Center in Rolla, ND, after fighting cancer with the spirit of a warrior.

Judy was born on May 10, 1955 in Minneapolis, MN to Edna (Bush) Lucke and Robert Lucke. Judy was raised in Rolla, ND and completed her education at Rolla High School, graduating in 1973. Judy was united in marriage to Gary Ravnaas on August 2, 1974 at the Rolla Presbyterian Church.

Judy worked at the Golden Rule and Curt's Theatre for most of her adult life before retiring. Ron and Freida Hasen became her extended family during Judy's tenure at the Golden Rule. Later, Todd and Julie Mears purchased the Golden Rule and Julie became a bonus daughter to Judy and with her three bonus grandchildren, Isabelle, Nicholas, and Jonathan Mears.  Curt and Cheryl Bonn of Curt's Theatre have been lifelong family friends. Judy loved working, and her interaction with people will be remembered by all throughout our community and beyond. You would be hard pressed to find a man in Rolette County that didn't seek guidance from Judy for an anniversary or a birthday gift for their significant other. She knew exactly what people would like and she loved being able to pick out just the right outfit at the Golden Rule. She was instrumental in the start-up of the annual Ragtop Festival in Rolla and she also judged the Turtle Mountain Pageant yearly. Her unfailing positivity and smile were a bright light for all. She was known for her unconditional kindness and generosity. Judy will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.

Judy is survived by her husband, Gary of Rolla; daughter Chelsie Jo of New Town; daughter Lindsay (Jamie) Wessels of Rolla; six grandchildren, Austin Hoover, Taylor Hoover, Tanley (Kyle) Azure, Ayden Gourneau, Dane Wessels, and Kenner Wessles; sister, Brenda (Alden) Allard of Garrison; brother, Roger Bush of Las Vegas; nieces, Becky (Jon) Miller, Carrie (Jim) Boe, and Bethany Dayton; nephews; Kelly (Dean) Allard-Franck, Korry Allard, Kody (fiancee Jaeryl) Allard, Kolby Allard, and Trevor Dayton.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edna (Bush) Lucke and her mother and father-in-law, Arvin and Helen Ravnaas.

A celebration of life will be held in Judy's memory in the spring of 2021. She will be honored in a 'fashion' that matches the joy and light she brought to so many.
