Joyce "Ginny" Ann Poitra, age 67, of Belcourt, North Dakota passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at St Kateri Medical Facility, Rolla, ND.

Joyce "Ginny" Ann Poitra was born on October 4, 1954, in Belcourt, ND to Leo "Cisco" and Delvina (DeCoteau) Bercier. She was raised in Belcourt where she attended St. Ann's School then Turtle Mountain School. She later received her GED in 1978 and furthered her education at Turtle Mountain Community College and received her Associates Degree. In November of 1971 she was united in marriage with the love of her life Lewis Poitra. Joyce was the mother of three children Raeann, Cheryl, and Staci. She had eight grandchildren and many godchildren, all whom she loved dearly. Joyce worked many different places throughout her life. She worked at the Tastee Freez in Belcourt, a teacher's aide and cook at Ojibwa School, the Belcourt Police Department as a cook, and most recently a cook at the Rolette County Sheriff's Department. Joyce enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with her family, rummaging, shopping, and bingo. Joyce will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Lewis Poitra: Her children Raeann Youngbird of Fargo, Cheryl Blue of Belcourt, Staci Poitra (David Longie) of Belcourt; Siblings Leona "Sugar" (Thomas) Bercier of Belcourt, Wilfred "Willie" Bercier of Belcourt, Morgan (Candace) Bercier of St. John, Bridger Bercier of Great Falls, MT, Tanya Bercier ( Dale Spearson) of Great Falls, MT, and Leo Cameron Bercier( Nadine Baker) of Great Falls, MT; Grandchildren Jerzee Poitra, Tyrone Youngbird Jr., Henry Youngbird, Molly Blue, Tristin Longie, Maurice Longie, Norrin Youngbird, and Lizzi Longie; Honorary sisters, Leslie Poitra, Janice Poitra, June Poitra, Susan Keplin, Linda Zaste, Marie Lavallie, Shelly Zaste, and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and siblings John "Jack" Bercier, Bryne Bercier, Duane "Manny" Bercier, and Deborah McGillis.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 30, 2022, at 10 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow at the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery. Belcourt, ND. Father Michael Slovak, S.O.L.T presiding.
