Joyce Fandrick-Dumont, age 89, of Dunseith, ND passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Joyce Marie Fandrick-Dumont was born on July 16, 1935 at home near Dunseith, ND to Ernest and Beatrice (DeCoteau) Poitra.  She was raised in Dunseith and completed her education there as well.  Joyce was united in marriage to Louis Sylvester Davis; Louis preceded her in death.  Joyce moved to Devils Lake with her children and furthered her education at college in Devils Lake obtaining her LPN nursing degree.  She was united in marriage to Elmer "Jim" Fandrick and Jim preceded her in death.  Joyce worked as a nurse at San Haven State Hospital in Dunseith, the Dunseith Nursing Home, and also as a school nurse for the Belcourt School system.  Joyce was a wonderful mother to many, her biological children, her adopted children, and many foster children including, Leo "Rocky," Allen "Butch," Randy, Marilyn, Cameron, Roxanne, Steven, Donna, Crystal, Mistie, Adam Sr., Lee, Gordon, Jordan, Linda, Verena, Adam Jr., Hennessey, Shanell, Harold, and Daniel, as well as being a foster mother to over 69 children.  She later married Francis Dumont; he preceded her in death.  Joyce loved spending her time planning for family get togethers, cherishing events when they all gathered together as a family. She especially loved when they all gathered to celebrate her birthdays and holidays.  Joyce liked traveling, going to the casino, dancing, and playing guitar.  She will be deeply missed by her family and forever remembered.

Joyce is survived by her children, Leo "Rocky" (Bernadette) Davis of Dunseith, Allen "Butch" (Peggy) Davis of Aberdeen, SD, Randy (Tanja) Davis of Rolla, Marilyn (Fred) Ruberry of Raymond, Alberta, Roxanne (Jack) Laducer of Dunseith, Steven Fandrick of Dunseith, Donna Fugure of Williston, Crystal (Charles) Monette of Ramsey, MN, Mistie Gardner of Belcourt, Adam Fandrick Sr. of Dunseith, Lee Fandrick of Fargo, Jordan Machipiness-Fandrick of Lisbon, OH, Linda Krause of Minot, Verena Gillis of Dunseith, Adam Fandrick Jr. of Dunseith, Hennessey Fandrick of Belcourt, Shanell Fandrick of Fargo, Harold Gillis of Dunseith, and Daniel Jerome of Fargo; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Beatrice Poitra, husband, Louis Davis, husband, Elmer "Jim" Fandrick, husband, Francis Dumont, sons, Cameron Davis and Gordon Machipiness-Fandrick, a granddaughter, Alyssa Machipiness, grandson, Clinton Parisien, great granddaughter, Rory Davis, three brothers, James, Willard, and Paul, a sister, daughter-in-law, Raquel Fandrick, and sister-in-law, Bernice Poitra.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Dunseith, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Dunseith, ND.
