John Smith, age 51, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at his home.

John Joseph "Johnny Boy" Smith was born on June 1, 1970 to Melvin and Rhonda (Allery) Smith.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well, graduating from Turtle Mountain Community High school in 1988.  He furthered his education at Lake Region State College for two years.  John enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.  He was medic in the Army and finished his time in Germany.  He worked as a mechanic throughout his life, following in the footsteps of his family members, in the Implement Business for the past 20 years. He was the proud father of a daughter, Emily and son, John Jr.  John lived in the Rolla/Belcourt area most of his life enjoying the outdoors, especially shooting his guns, hunting, ice fishing, and camping.  He liked to watch westerns, martial arts, and country music.  John also liked grilling outdoors when possible and playing guitar while sipping on a few cold ones.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family members and friends.

John is survived by his daughter, Emily Allery of Fargo; siblings, Melvin Smith Jr., Misty LaVallie, Laura Greatwalker, and Clint Smith; and nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and son, John Smith Jr.

Casket Bearers are JJ Lenoir Jr., Jayden Smith, Ricky Thomas, Edward LaVallie, Pat Carrington, Kavyn Poitra Sr., and JR Bruce. Military Honors by the Lilley-Dionne American Post #262 of Belcourt and the Military Funeral Honor Guard of Grand Forks, ND.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Turtle Mountain Worship Center, Belcourt, ND.  Funeral Services will be Friday, January 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Turtle Mountain Worship Center, Belcourt, ND with Frank Sheridan presiding.  Burial will be in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND in the spring.
