John (Jack) R. Mickelson, age 75 of Perth, ND passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

John "Jack" Richard Mickelson was born on August 16, 1947 at Rolla Hospital to Rudolph and Velma (Makela) Mickelson. He attended Rolla School graduating in 1965 and continued his education at NDSU and tried out for the NDSU Bison basketball team. Jack was united in marriage to Eileen Gwen Martinson on June 6, 1965 in Cando, ND. Together they had four daughters, Dawn, Lori, Jill and Kelly Jo. Jack worked on the family farm his entire life until retiring in 2012. He enjoyed being outdoors gardening, hunting, fishing and giving treats to his best furry friend and companion, Duke. Jack was a jokester and always loved telling fishing stories. In Jack's younger years he played on the Hansboro Old-Pro softball team, sang in the church choir and was the president of the Rolla Curling Club. Jack also liked going to the casino, watching the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins, jigsaw puzzles and teaching all the grandkids to drive the four-wheeler. He loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eileen of Perth; daughters, Dawn (Jon) Halone of Rolla, Lori (Trent) Byberg of Bismarck, Jill (Brent) Wilson of West Fargo, and Kelly (Rory) Johnson of Maple Grove, MN; 13 grandchildren, Jacie (Tony) Page, Ashton (Jonathan) Schmidt, Shelby (Nathan) Tandeski, Jack, Hunter and Baylee Byberg, Nichole (Nick) Gubbels, Cassidy and Taylor Wilson, Kennedy Wallette, Courtney, Justin and Ana Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren, Carter Belgarde, Abigail Page, Ellory, Samson, Rudy and Sullivan Schmidt, Tatum, Oaklyn and Crew Tandeski and Bennett Gubbels; siblings, Marlene (Ronnie) Bykonen of Rolla, Jeannie Merrill of Bullhead City, AZ, and Thomas (Lois) Mickelson of Richland, WA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Michael and Steve, nephews, Troy Mickelson and Rick Bykonen, and niece, Carol Mickelson.

Urn bearer is his brother Tom. Honorary Bearers are all grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday June 1, 2023 at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, ND with a Family Prayer Service at 7 pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND with Pastor Scott Ramey officiating. Burial will be in the Finnish Apostolic Cemetery, Towner County, ND.
