Long time Rolla, ND resident, John Andrew Jolliffe, 62, died unexpectedly near Rolla on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

John was born September 20, 1963 in Rolette, ND to Donald and Gloria (Melland) Jolliffe.  He grew up in Rolla, attended school and graduated from Rolla High School in 1982.  Following high school, he attended NDSU-Bottineau, earning an Associates of Arts degree.

After college, John returned to the family farm south of Rolla.  He then relocated to North Carolina.  While residing there, he was married for a short time to Edna Luffman and he also attended truck driving school.  Returning to North Dakota in April 2003, he eventually made his home on the former Alfred Allard farm south of Rolla.  Alfred was John's step-grandfather.

John worked for Dahl Trucking out of Langdon and proudly earned "Driver of the Year" while employed there.  A few years later, Al, owner of Gault Trucking in Rugby, welcomed John to his team of drivers.  He thoroughly appreciated the opportunity to work for the Gault family, which he did right up until his death.  John also enjoyed raising cattle – from being at the sales ring, going to bull sales, researching the pedigrees and just simply talking "cows and bulls."

John was an active member of the Salem Mennonite Church in Mylo.  His faith was important to him and he shared it with many.

Those that survive John are his mom, Gloria of Rolla, countless friends and his pet "Kitty."

Preceding him in death were his father, Donald, paternal grandparents, Raymond and Helen Jolliffe, step-grandfather, Alfred Allard, and maternal grandparents, Andrew and Sadie Melland.

A remembrance service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, ND with visiting hours from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Harvest Church, near Wolford, ND, with Gary Bacher officiating. Burial will be held at Oxford Cemetery, south of Rolla, ND at 1:00 PM following funeral services, with Dorvan Yoder officiating.

Pallbearers are Gary Bacher, Jeff Juntunen, Adam Lemieux, Jacob Lemieux, Robert Lemieux, Kevin Nygaard, Duane Wilkie, and Randy Gingerich.

John's mom, Gloria, is grateful to all that have reached out in this time of significant loss.  Thank you to the neighbors and friends that had a part in searching for John.  Thank you as well to the Rolla Ambulance, Rolla Fire Department, Rolla Police, and the Rolette County Sheriff's Department for their dedicated help in the matter.
