Jesse Lee Short (Northern Spirit man) born into this world 10/13/1978, began his journey 10/27/2023.

Jesse Lee Short-bun began his whirlwind of a life on a Friday, October 13, 1978 to Carol Charette-Short (Casey) and John Short Sr. Jesse is their third oldest son out of six children. His siblings are John Short Jr., Jason Short Sr, Natasha Short, Jordan Short Sr., and Joey Short Sr. Jesse grew up in Belcourt and graduated from the Turtle Mountain High School, class of 1997. He attended the TMCC for a brief time. During Jesse's high school years, he would meet his soulmate, Alberta Bruce. They were young high school sweethearts and after graduation their family had begun, in 1998 they would welcome their first-born son, Trevor Lee Short. They would then marry in the winter of December 27th, 1999. They then relocated together as a family to Moorhead, MN where they would experience many life changes including welcoming three more sons, Isaac John, Dalton Gene, Kobe James. Later in life their oldest Trevor, would bless the family with the first addition, his grandson, Jentry Lee (Makoon) with Crystal Jeanotte, Jesse was so ecstatic when he was delivered the news, he smiled for days and told the world. Two years later Isaac and Ilea would add another blessing to the family with, Taven Niigaanii, he finally got his wish for Isaac to give him another grandbaby. Jesse was one happy Papa. Nothing made him happier than being around or even video calling his grandbabies.

Jesse was always a hardworking man and provider for his family. He made sure his family never went without. Jesse had worked numerous jobs throughout his life. He was a jack of all trades. He had done construction, concrete, and many years in the oilfields, side by side with his cousin Shane Scott, and a few years with his brother-in-law, Reene Bruce. Working side by side had created an unbreakable bond between the guys (brotherhood). Jesse was an operator for Marions Construction for a short time. He then would work for Mike Allery Construction where he would begin a good friendship with Mike and Patti, they kept in touch even after Jesse wasn't employed by them. Stellon Farms in Drayton ND. would be where Jesse would work his seasonal job as a lifter operator, he would work with his brother-in-law Allen Bruce, he did this for almost 10 years, where he left an impact on all the owners and co-workers, they'll always remember his humor and his thundering voice that could be heard for miles.

Jesse will always be remembered as the life of the party. He was loud and could be heard anywhere. Jesse loved to joke and raise hell with anyone and everyone. No one will ever forget his, "Hey, my baby" or being called "Handicapped," The "good morning," or the "Go to bed" text no matter the time of day. Jesse was always a trickster and just liked to make people smile. Jesse enjoyed hosting meals and most of all he secretly admired the compliments he'd receive for his food. Jesse was a very good cook and it will never be forgotten, from his one-of-a-kind buttery soft bangs to his gooey delicious caramel rolls. One of Jesse's biggest dreams was to start a food truck or even a restaurant. We could go on and on talking about all the crazy times with Jesse but nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family and friends. The love for his family was unbreakable, he was always proud of his boys, the men they have grown to be and are still growing to be. He would light up when people would mention how great his boys were. Jesse has many nieces and nephews (even cousins) that considered him as "uncle" (one of his nicknames he gave himself). Jesse made sure he stayed in contact with them on their messengers, just a random text or a quick video call.

Jesse is survived by his spouse, Alberta Short; children, Trevor (Kieana), Isaac (Ilea), Dalton ( Kaylee), and Kobe; grandchildren, Jentry Lee and Taven Niigaanii; parents, John Sr. and Casey Short; siblings, John Short Jr.(Krista) of Fargo ND, Jason Short Sr of Fargo ND, Natasha Short(Dennis) of Belcourt ND, Jordan Short Sr. (Jennifer) of Fargo ND, Joey Short Sr.(Desiree) of Belcourt; many nieces and nephews (whom all held a special place in his heart); aunt, uncles, and numerous cousin's he considers as friends for life.

Jesse joins eternal rest by his daughter, Jessa, sister, Jennnifer Short, grandparents, Cecilia Short and Alfred F. Short, Wilhelmina Charette (Willie) and Patrick J Charette (Patshy) and many aunts and uncles. He was joined in eternal rest with Father and Mother in-law, Gene A Bruce Sr. and Velma Bruce, and his nephew, James Bruce and sister-in-law, Sheila Nadeau.
