Jennifer Lee
Lafontaine
May 22, 1971 — Aug 24, 2023
Jennifer Lee LaFontaine, age 52, was born to Marie Debbie (Gunville) and Stanley E. LaFontaine in Belcourt, ND on May 22, 1971. Jennifer passed on August 24, 2023 at SMP St. Kateri Hospital in Rolla, ND. Jenny attended school in Wahpeton, ND at the Indian School and Flandreau, SD Indian School. She later attended and graduated from United Tribes Technical College in Criminal Justice and Business Administration.
Jenny had three children, Katherine Nickaboine-LaFontaine, Alexander Nickaboine-LaFontaine, and Kimberly Nickaboine-LaFontaine. She adored being a mother and you can ask any of her children just how patient she was with them. Always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind and not only to her children by her nieces and nephews. Jen was so proud of them all. She would play games, go to community events, especially pow-wows, bingo and rummaging, until her illness made her unable to attend. Her favorite time of year was Thanksgiving and Christmas when the whole family was home. Jen loved recording her family on the sneak and had a wonderful laugh that would make anyone join her, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength, she never complained, and always looked to a better future, even when she was told she did not qualify for a kidney transplant. She still gave her family and friends uplifting words of encouragement.
Jennifer is survived by her father, Stanley E. LaFontaine of Belcourt; daughters, Katherine Nickaboine-LaFontaine of MN and Kimberly Nickaboine-LaFontaine; son, Alexander Nickaboine-LaFontaine of Belcourt; sisters, Selina LaFontaine of Rolla and Kelly Parisien of Bismarck; brothers, Lucas LaFontaine of Bismarck and Tyland LaFontaine of Rolla; granddaughter, Marley Holin of MN; uncle, Emil LaFontaine of Belcourt; aunt, Brenda (Mike) Davis of Marlborough, MA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Debbie LaFontaine, brother, Darrell Parisien, aunt, Barbara Rousseau, uncles, Roy, Clifford, and Dennis LaFontaine, and nephew, Steve Grant III.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Turtle Mountain Worship Center, Belcourt, ND.
