Janet M. Gourneau, age 77, of Minot, ND passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.
Janet M. "Jeanie" Gourneau was born on August 2, 1946 to Robert Gourneau Sr. and Delia (Allard) Gourneau. She attended school in Belcourt, ND and graduated in May of 1965.
Janet married Gene L. Enno on August 26, 1967 and they had a daughter, Leah Enno. They later divorced. In June 1973, Janet met LeRoy Jeanotte, the love of her life, and they were married on July 8, 1982. With the union, she gained a son, Lee. They cherished 51 loving years together.
Janet worked at Turtle Mountain Community College and later at the NDSU Bottineau branch. She then returned to Belcourt and worked at Ojibwa Indian School before moving to Fort Duchesne, Utah, where she was employed at the BIA. She returned home in 2008.
Janet loved spending time with her grandchildren, Sheena and Jimmy Jr., and her great grandchildren, Nakiia and Keelai DeCoteau. She also enjoyed being with her family and friends, playing at casinos, and especially loved playing bingo.
Janet is survived by her loving spouse, LeRoy Jeanotte of Minot; daughter, Leah (Bob) Brien and son, Lee Jeanotte of Minot; granddaughter, Sheena and great grandchildren, Nakiia, Keelai, Warren, Raiden, Zia, and Dontae.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Jimmy LaVallie Jr., brothers, Lloyd and Robert Jr., and sisters, Sandy and Rosella.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial followed funeral services at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
Rosary led by Patty Allery and Madonna Marcellais. Pallbearers were Gary Allery, Bobby Brien, Heath Gourneau, Marlin Gourneau, Lee Jeanotte, James St. Claire, and Jake Vivier. Honorary Bearers were all great grandchildren, family and friends. Pall placed by Leah Brien and Lee Jeanotte. Readers were Jerika Vivier and Bobbie Schroeder. Eucharistic Gifts by Nakiia and Keelai DeCoteau and Ashlyn Desjarlais. Music by Joe Parisien and Richard Turcotte.
