James Venne, age 58, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

James Elmer "Jim" Venne was born on April 10, 1963 in Belcourt, ND to Elmer and Melvina (Thomas) Venne.  He was raised in the Rolla and Belcourt area and completed his education at Belcourt Schools.  James was united in marriage to Jolene LaFromboise on July 5, 2006.  They later divorced.  He was a proud father to Mercedes Venne and loved the time that they spent together. He also raised three step-children, Devin, Ayla, and Lakota.  James worked at the manufacturing plant in Dunseith until 2006, for Gustafson Oil, Bill's Service, Rolla Auto Parts, and on the windmills near St. John.  James worked side by side with the Rolla Fire Department for numerous years.  He devoted his time and energy to each and every call that he could help with, earning himself the respect and admiration from many of his fellow fire department volunteer's, who in turn became his family.  James liked working on cars in his spare time.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

James is survived by daughter, Mercedes Venne of Belcourt; ex-wife, Jolene Belgarde of Belcourt; step-children, Devin (Sarah) Morin of Dunseith, Ayla Morin of Dunseith, and Lakota Morin of Georgia; seven step-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Goin of Oregon; and his nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Melvina Venne, sister, Gloria Bergan, and a brother, Larry LaVallie.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with wake services Monday, May 17, 2021 at the church.  Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rolette, ND.  A meal will be held at the Rolla Fire Department, Rolla, ND.
