James A. Parr, Sr., age 78, of Rolla, ND, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at his home.

James Arthur Parr Sr. was born on April 28, 1941 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Leslie and Vera (Prouty) Parr. He was raised in St. John, ND by his grandparents, Ernest and Charlotte Dillon and completed his education there as well. James was united in marriage to Virginia Lagasse on September 26, 1964 in Rolla, ND. They later divorced. Together they had four children, James Jr., Robert, Sherry, and Valerie. He worked in a clothing factory and a cheese factory in Mauston, Wisconsin and also at a cheese factory in Towner, ND. James was a farm hand in many different places throughout North Dakota for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing all kinds of games. James loved the company of his son, James Jr., whom lived with him for many years. He liked watching movies and sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings. James also liked word search puzzles and game shows such as the Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune. He loved time spent with his children, Robert, Sherry, and Valerie when they were home to visit. James will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

James Sr. is survived by his children, James W. Parr Jr. of Rolla, Robert (Donna) Parr of Draper, Utah, Sherry Parr of Rolette, and Valerie (Raven) Parr of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a brother, David (Colleen) Liebig of Bismarck.

James Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, brothers, Leslie and Charles, and sisters, Darlene and Charlotte.

Funeral Services and Burial for James Sr. will be held in the spring.
