James Langseth, age 84, of Rolla, ND passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

James Donald "Jim" Langseth was born on February 15, 1935 in Fargo, ND to Hans and Martha (Hagen) Langseth. He attended Township Berlin Elementary in Argusville and completed his high school education at Oak Grove Lutheran in Fargo. Jim furthered his education at Concordia College and became a proud graduate of North Dakota State University with a Bachelor Degree in mechanical engineering. He was united in marriage to Fay Orndorff on November 30, 1962 in Hagerstown, MD. Together they raised two children, Greg and Joan.

Jim worked in defense industries for many years in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Illinois, and then in North Dakota in the towns of Devils Lake, Belcourt, and Rolla. He specialized in manufacturing engineering and production management, often responsible for up to 450 employees, whom cherished him as a leader and boss.

Jim was a Boy Scout leader, member of the Rolla Kiwanis Club and president for a time, Rolla City Council member and mayor of Rolla, and the Rolla Community Endowment Fund chairman. He also was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of which he taught Sunday School for over 40 years and was on the church council and various church committees throughout the years. Jim loved golfing and enjoyed his time at the Rolla golf course with family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness and his thoughtful and gentle spirit. Jim was a loving husband for 57 years and dedicated father to his children, rarely missing a hockey game, football game, or any event for his children. He greatly enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren as well. Jim was a mentor to many, not only within his family but in his community as well. Jim will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family members and many friends.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Fay Langseth of Rolla; son, Greg (Karen) Langseth and their sons, James Langseth and Samuel Langseth of Bellevue, Iowa; daughter, Joan (Kenneth Lake) Langseth and their son, Hans Lake of Hazel Green, Alabama; brother, Pastor Robert (Deloris) Langseth of Calumet, Michigan; and nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Martha Langseth and brothers, Gordon (Ione) Langseth and Gene Langseth.
Casket Bearers are Denny Neameyer, Alex Albert, Terry Lawler, Larry Mickelson, Melvin Juntunen, and George Youngerman. Eulogy given by Pastor Robert Langseth. Music by Carolyn Heller, pianist.

A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, ND with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Monday, July 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND with Pastor Tedd Rieke officiating. Burial will take place in Herby Cemetery, Argusville, ND at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Rolla Community Endowment Fund in Jim's memory.
