James Clifford Laducer Sr., age 86, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

James Clifford Laducer Sr. was born on February 19, 1933 in Belcourt, ND to James J. and Clemence (Lenoir) Laducer. He was raised in Belcourt as well. James was united in marriage to Marla Dawn Gladue in 1956 and together they had five children, Shirley, Sandy, Sharlene, Donna, and James Jr. They later divorced.

James worked as a heavy equipment operator for various companies for the majority of his work history with work bringing him to live in California, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Illinois, Idaho, Wyoming and various other places. He traveled a lot also visiting Mexico. He loved horses and raised registered quarter horses and cattle for most of his life still enjoying watching his three horses. James also was an avid bird watcher always enjoying, listening, and providing houses for his purple martins and feeding his humming birds.

He also loved fiddle music and dancing and told many stories of his early years of going to many barn dances. James was proud of his Cree, Chippewa, and French heritage. He enjoyed attending the music festivals and went to Keplin Fest yearly until recently. He enjoyed chuck-wagon races as well. James loved playing cards with his family and played cards six days before his passing.

James was the most wonderful Dad and Grandpa anyone could ever ask for. He loved his children dearly and would look forward to their visits. He watched many of his grandchildren throughout his hears. He will be greatly and lovingly missed by his family. He had great faith in God throughout his life and it was exemplified to the end. James had a very kind heart.

He is survived by his companion, Phyllis Houle of Belcourt; daughters, Sandy (Will) Good Bird of Rolette, Sharlene (Ted) Trove of Fargo, and Donna (Jerry) Zwetow of Fargo; son, James (Jolean Houle) Laducer Jr. of Belcourt; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Don Spitzer of Billings, MT.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Shirley Spitzer, sisters, Agnes Gourneau, Freda Dilley, and Philomene Kom, and brothers, Jack, Francis, Sam, and Dave Laducer.

Casket Bearers are Don Spitzer, Leo Kom Jr., Robert Laducer, Isaiah Trove, Ted Trove, James D. Laducer, Will Good Bird, Jerry Zwetow, and Norbert Laducer. Honorary Bearer are all close friends. Reader is Lynn Longie-Hunt. Rosary led by Tanya Kom. Music by Joe Parisien and Richard Turcotte. Euhcaristic gifts by Makaia Hurley and Landon Hurley. Eulogy by Shar Trove.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the church. Burial will follow at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
