Obituary

James Gladue, age 55, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

James Allen Gladue was born on February 16, 1966 to Vernon Gladue and Ruth (LaFountain) Gattke in Belcourt, ND.  He was raised in Rolla and completed his education at Rolla High School.  James furthered his education at Turtle Mountain Community College obtaining certificates in welding and carpentry.  He was self-employed as a carpenter.  James enjoyed riding horses at his grandpa's farm in his younger years, hunting and fishing, and being outdoors.  James also enjoyed combining on the family farm with his step-father. He was also a gifted artist and enjoyed crafting of different kinds, including beading.  James will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family members and friends.

James is survived by his loving companion Joann Bercier and her son Jason DeCoteau, his children, Reva Greatwalker of Bismarck, Shanelle Greatwalker of Belcourt, and Jayne Handeland of Dunseith; two grandchildren; father, Vernon (Janice) Gladue of Dunseith; mother, Ruth (Ron) Gattke of Rolla; siblings, Donna (Lance) Jay of Rolla, Vince (Lenore) Gladue of Fargo, Lorie (Craig) Thomas of Schereville, IN; step-siblings, Wayne Gattke of Phoenix, AZ, Brian (Mitzi) Gattke of Rolla, Alan (Dana) Olafson of Edinberg, and Melanie Kelley of Minneapolis, MN; and nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his step-brother Scott Gattke, sister, Leah Gladue and grandparents, Walter and Alvina LaFountain and Paul and Cecelia Gladue.

Casket Bearers are Vince Gladue, Gavin Gladue, James E.Gladue, Luke Gladue, Waylon Gladue, Skyler Gladue, and Sidney LaVallie.  Honorary Bearers are all family and friends.  Music by Richard Turcotte and C. Joe Parisien.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM with Rosary Service at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Father Fred Alexander presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
