Obituary

Jaclynn Davis-Wallette, age 58, of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Jaclynn Louise Davis-Wallette, Miigisi'ikwe (Shell Woman), was born on November 13, 1966 in Bismarck, ND to Lynn and Carol Ann (Monette) Davis. She was raised in Belcourt and completed her education at Belcourt High School, graduating in 1985.  Jaclynn furthered her education at University of North Dakota obtaining a bachelor's degree and then receiving her master's degree and currently working on her doctorate from North Dakota State University. Jaclynn met Darrell Wallette and together they raised three children, Riel, Natalie, and Ellyn.  She worked in administration throughout her life and had many special connections to the people she worked with.  Jaclynn loved traveling, often going to Scottsdale, AZ, Detroit Lakes, MN and to Fargo where she enjoyed the places she called home. She loved her family dearly and the time they spent together.  Jaclynn will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.

Jaclynn is survived by Darrell Wallette, her children, Riel Wallette, Natalie Davis, and Ellyn Wallette, all of Fargo; three grandchildren, Jovie, Emma, and Lilley Davis; mother, Carol Davis of Belcourt; siblings, Sherri Davis-Trottier of Belcourt, Joel Davis of Belcourt, Daniel (Courtney) Davis of Aberdeen, SD, and Cleo Davis of Rolla; and nieces and nephews.

Jaclynn was preceded in death by her father, Lynn Davis, brother, Frank L. Davis, grandparents, Frank and Emma Monette and William and Louise Davis, and brother-in-law, Darrell Trottier.

Casket Bearers are Sherri Davis-Trottier, Tyrell Poitra, Rhonda Edwards, Frances Allard, Judy LaRocque, Lynette Malaterre, Winona LaDuke, Lyn Blackburde, and Johanna Stately.  Honorary Bearers are Clarence Davis, Jesse Parisien, Shawn Poitra, Ron "Puckon" Poitra, Frank James Poitra, Lynsey Larson, and Scott Larson. Special music at Fiddler's Hall by the women's hand drum group Siipiising Singers and men's drum group, Dakota Gunville, Dylan Beston, and Brad Defender and at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Craig Lunday and Leonard Keplin.

A Visitation and Traditional Services will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND from 2:00 to 5:00 PM with a meal to follow (The traditional ceremony will be performed by the "Knowledge  Keepers," Lyn Blackburde, Manitou Rapids Rainy River First Nation (Treaty 3) and Edna Nielsen from Peguis First Nation (Treaty 1).  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2024 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass with a meal to follow at the fiddlers hall.  Burial will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
