Obituary

Frank "Bubsy" Keplin, Jr., age 51, of Dunseith, North Dakota, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, North Dakota.

Frank "Bubsy" Keplin, Jr., was born on August 6, 1970, in Belcourt, North Dakota, to Frank Sr. and Vivian (Henry) Keplin. He was raised in Dunseith and completed his education at Dunseith High School. He was the eldest of his three siblings, Rhonda, Tony, and Nathan Keplin.

He was married to Nicole St. Claire in 1995. They later divorced. Together, they had four children, Lane, Charisse, Roshaya, and Frank III. Bubsy was a jack-of-all-trades. His work ventures varied from being a truck driver, hauling beets, working road construction, to developing three casinos from the ground up. He was also a general manager of the once named Painted Pony casino, in Trenton, North Dakota. He most recently was employed at the pasta plant in Cando, North Dakota.

Bubsy enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and woodworking, often inventing unique diamond willow crafts. He enjoyed keeping busy and working on vehicles, gambling, cooking, and playing guitar. He was well known for his famous gullet making skills. He spent the past decade enjoying his time with his significant other, Ruby DeCoteau, whom he met while working in Trenton. They were rarely seen apart, whether it was driving around, or visiting friends and family; they were always seen smiling and joking around together. He had an outgoing personality and had a gift to make people laugh. Without being asked to do so, Bubsy would mow lawns for those less fortunate. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be lovingly missed by all of his family and friends.

Bubsy is survived by his partner, Ruby DeCoteau; children, Lane Keplin, Charisse (Joel Haggerty) Keplin, Roshaya LaRocque, Frank Keplin III, and Haley DeCoteau; granddaughter, Ella Mae Anderson; mother, Vivian (Henry) Keplin; siblings, Rhonda Keplin, Anthony "Tony" Keplin Sr., and Nathan Keplin, and many nieces and nephews; aunts Debbie "Chook" (Keplin) Martin, Carol (Keplin) Sims, Brenda Henry, Doraldian Henry, Betty (Henry) Summers; uncles, Richard (Shirley St.Claire) Keplin, Linus (Connie Counts) Keplin, Mark Henry, Jay (Patty) Henry, Ted (MaryAnn) Henry, James (Shirley) Henry, and John Henry Jr.

Bubsy is preceded in death by his father, Frank Keplin, Sr; grandparents, Fred and Liza (Allery) Keplin, John and Bernice (LeCompte) Henry; aunts, Loretta Vivier, Joyce Camrud, Rose Keplin, Sharon (Baker) Keplin, Lauretta Keplin, Linda (Gladue) Keplin, Zanetta (Kenmille) Keplin; uncles, Melvin Henry, Brian Henry, Vincent DeCoteau, Alfred "Fritzie" Keplin, Russell "Kenny" Keplin, Carl "Deanie" Keplin, Frank Baker, Peter Gladue, Tony Sims, and Henry "Mokey" Martin; relatives, Bernice Henry, Jason Allery, Michael "Chi-Mike" Keplin, Brooke Henry, Frank Henry, Virgil Henry, Sandy Vivier, Nikki Henry, and Vincenta Houle-Keplin.
