Obituary

Francis LaVallie, age 83, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Francis Joseph LaVallie was born on September 9, 1937 to Alex P. and Mary V. (St. Pierre) LaVallie.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well.  Francis worked for the Turtle Mountain Tribe as a carpenter.  He later transferred to the Commodity Warehouse where he eventually retired in 2008.  Francis resided at the Belcourt Retirement Home.  He was a family man and loved time spent with his family and friends, especially during the holidays with grandchildren and great grandchildren around.  He enjoyed watching football, especially the Minnesota Vikings, the news, game shows, and westerns.  Francis lived in Belcourt throughout his lifetime.  He looked forward to Saturday morning breakfast at the North 40 restaurant and service from his favorite waitress, Jackie.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Francis is survived by his children, Richard Bercier of Belcourt, Delima (Curtis) Peltier of Dunseith, and Brenda (Seymour) Page of Belcourt; seven grandchildren, Richard Jr. (Jesse) Bercier, Francene (Lee) Davis, Jessica Azure, Kandace (Jeff Jr.) Page-Desjarlais, Karrie (Andrew) Page, Harvey Azure, and Seymour Page Jr.; many great grandchildren; siblings, Maria (Pat) Martin, Doris LaVallie, both of Minnesota, Della Rose Konefes, and Celina LaVallie, both of Belcourt; and many nieces and nephews, as well as, caregiver/friend, Joyce DeCoteau.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Mary LaVallie, brothers, Tommy LaVallie and Peter Ambrose LaVallie, sisters, Viola Azure, Margaret LaVallie, Theresa Longie, Shirley Woods, and Anna Bercier.  He also joins his loving companion, Sylvia M. Bercier.

Urn Bearers include Howard Longie Jr. and Howard Longie Sr.  Honorary Bearers are his Godchild, AJ Bercier and all nieces and nephews.  Honorary Eucharistic Giftbearers are Celina LaVallie and Della Rose Konefes. Readers are Shauna LaVallie and Sherry Baker.  Music by Leonard Keplin with the Rosary led by Denise Keplin.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Ann's Catholic Chruch, Belcourt, ND with a visitation starting at 8:00 AM, Eulogy reading at 9:00 AM, and Rosary Service at 9:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass.  Father Tony Hession, SOLT presiding.  Burial will be at St. Benedict's Catholic Cemetery at a later date in the spring.

There will not be a meal following the Funeral Mass.  Condolences may be sent to his children and grandchildren.
