Obituary

Francis "Frank" DeCoteau Jr., age 66, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

Francis Wilford "Frank" DeCoteau Jr. was born on May 24, 1958 in Belcourt, ND to Francis Sr. and Leona (Wallette) DeCoteau.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well, obtaining his GED.  Frank worked at Kalix in Belcourt for many years.  He loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar and violin.  Frank also liked rummage sales and horse trading with family and friends.  He enjoyed horses as well when he was younger, owning some of his own.  Frank will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Frank is survived by his step-son, Leonard Wessels of Fargo; grandchildren, Alexis Geurrero, Joe Geurrero, Bosley Wessels, Leonard Wessels Jr., Miguel Wessels, and Cante Touche; siblings, George DeCoteau of Belcourt, Robin DeCoteau of Belcourt, Mike (Andrea) DeCoteau of Belcourt, Robert DeCoteau of Belcourt, Leona (Allen) Peltier of Belcourt, and Bryce "Bingo" DeCoteau of Belcourt; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Francis "Butches" Sr. and Leona DeCoteau, infant sister, Carla DeCoteau, nephew, Michael DeCoteau Jr., nieces, Theresa and Adele DeCoteau, and sister-in-law's, Linda DeCoteau and Clara "Buffy" DeCoteau.

Casket Bearers are Mike DeCoteau, Crystal Smith, Carlin IronMoccasin, Frank DeCoteau, Joe Geurrero, and Bosley Wessels.  Honorary Bearer is Leonard Wessels Jr. Eucharistic Gifts by Skyann Charboneau and Shayla DeCoteau.  Readers are Megan DeCoteau, Candace DeCoteau, and Kyann LeDoux. Rosary led by Marilee and Aaron Vondal.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 3, 2024 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.  Father David Snow presiding.
