Francis DeCoteau, age 84, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Presentation Medical Center, Rolla, ND.

Francis "Butches" DeCoteau was born on June 29, 1936 in Belcourt, ND to Wilford and Adele (Wilkie) DeCoteau.  He was raised in Belcourt and attended St. Ann's Mission School.  Francis was united in marriage to Leona Wallette on June 9, 1956 in Couer de Alene, Idaho.  Together they had eight children, Carla, Mike, George, Robin, Francis Jr., Bryce, Robert, and Leona.  Francis worked as a farm hand for many years.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and the violin as well as jigging.  Francis liked to ride horse, play bingo, and to drive around.  He had a wonderful sense of humor, always teasing and joking, especially when visiting with George.  Francis was very good at bartering and trading and loved visiting with his family members and friends.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Francis is survived by his children, Mike (Andrea) DeCoteau, George DeCoteau, Robin DeCoteau, Francis Jr. "Frank" (Julie) DeCoteau, Bryce DeCoteau Sr., Robert (Linda) DeCoteau, and Leona DeCoteau; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Adele DeCoteau, wife, Leona DeCoteau, daughter, Carla DeCoteau, daughter-in-law, Clara DeCoteau, sister, Delvina Bercier, brother, John DeCoteau, and grandchildren, Adele LaVallie, Michael DeCoteau, Theresa DeCoteau, and Angel DeCoteau.

Casket Bearers are Bryce DeCoteau Jr., Edward Delonais, Derick Kidder, Waylon LaVallie, Don Anton, and Steve Anton.  Honorary Bearers are all family and friends.

A visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.  Burial will follow at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.  A meal will follow at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.
