Forda Marcil, age 97, of Rolla, ND passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at SMP-St. Kateri Hospital, Rolla, ND.

Forda Jean Marcil was born on August 14, 1926 in Bradford, PA to Joseph and Alta (Singer) Frantz.  She grew up in Pennsylvania and completed high school there as well, graduating in 1944.  Forda furthered her education at Philadelphia Nursing School, obtaining a Bachelor of Nursing degree.  Forda pursued her nursing career at Belcourt IHS Hospital, where she also met Robert Marcil. They were united in marriage on October 30th, 1948 in Bradford, PA.

Together they raised nine children, Judith, Denise, Jeanette, Beverly, Glenn, Dale, Pauline, Kevin, and Brian. Forda worked at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital in Belcourt, retiring in 1966. She was deeply involved in her community, a member of the Homemaker's Organization of St. John, Eastern Star, ND Governor's Board of Special Education, and Special Olympics. She cared for her church family by serving on church council, helping with teaching Sunday School and taking time to nurture her faith with Bible Study. Forda often joked that she was in these groups and clubs to get away from all of her children, as she also had a wonderful sense of humor. She liked being outdoors gardening and going bowling in her younger years with family and friends. In their early years Forda and Robert loved going to dances at the Barn by Dunseith, often attending by wagon ride from St. John. She enjoyed time spent with her family and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Forda is survived by her children, Judith (Richard) Juntunen of Helena, MT, Denise Ibarra of Azusa, CA, Jeanette (Bob) Laducer of Belcourt, Beverly Haberman of Albuquerque, NM, Glenn (Jeanie) Marcil of Rolla, Dale (Linda) Marcil of Townsend, MT, Pauline (Kevin) Berg of Fargo, Kevin (Jeanette) Marcil of Bakersfield, CA, and Brian Marcil of Minot; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Hamn of Savannah, GA; and nieces and nephews.

Forda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, parents, Joseph and Alta Frantz, son-in-law, Art Ibarra, sisters, Rayma, Gail, and Joyce, and brother, Duane.

Casket Bearers are Justin Laducer, Jason Laducer, Ranger Blue, Kevin Berg, Mitch Beck, and Elijah LaFromboise.  Honorary Bearers are all family and friends. Music by Ecumenical Choir.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Rolla Presbyterian Church, Rolla, ND with Dave Schnackenberg officiating, visitation 2 hours prior to services in the church.  Burial will follow funeral services at Rolla City Cemetery, Rolla, ND.
