Floyd LaFontaine, age 83, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, ND.

Floyd Dennis LaFontaine was born on July 6, 1939 in Rolla, ND to Joe and Mary (Crissler) LaFontaine.  He was raised in Belcourt and graduated from Belcourt High School in 1959. Floyd continued his education and received his welding certificate in San Jose, CA. He was united in marriage to Ernestine Demery and had four children. Floyd later divorced and was united with a life-long companion and the love of his life, Viola Chase (His Baby). Floyd was employed by FMC as a welder where he welded on Bradley Fighting Vehicles and M13 Personal Carriers, retiring from FMC in 1990. He was a huge sports fan and he loved to watch boxing, basketball, and his Minnesota Vikings. Floyd also had a passion for music. He loved to play guitar, play the fiddle, and sing. Floyd was an unselfish and forgiving person. He would help anyone in need. Wherever Floyd went he was able to make a friend or already knew them. Floyd was able to make anyone laugh with his jokes and teasing. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Floyd is survived by his loving companion, children, grandchildren, brothers, and many friends and family.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary (Crissler) LaFontaine, and brothers, Clifford LaFontaine, Don Don LaFontaine, and Roy LaFontaine.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2pm with Reverend Curtis Patnaude at the Turtle Mountain Worship Center - Highway 4 East, Belcourt, ND 58316
