Florene LaFountain, age 74, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

Florene Ann LaFountain was born on December 1, 1950, in Belcourt, ND to Joseph and Mary (Champagne) LaFountain.  She was raised in Belcourt and completed her education there as well.  Florene married Wayne Myran in 1972 with adoption of Lori Myran in 1974. They raised Lori together till 1983 when Florene returned to North Dakota.

Florene dedicated her life to love her daughter Lori and all her siblings, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed being a part of family gatherings, which she never missed any celebration of life. She was a hard worker over the years. She started out as a hairdresser, school bus driver, nursing assistant and various other jobs. She was strong hearted individual that survived many accidents and tragedies in her life.

Florene enjoyed all the family and would attend social events. In the early years she would take Lori to Saturday matinee movies. She loved to go to bingo, and she make Lori bring books to read while she played. She spent time with siblings playing cards, dice tournaments that would carry on throughout the night. She enjoyed word search, cross words, and puzzles. She loved wheel of fortune daily. She loved to joke and tease all the family and friends especially Troy Lavallie – close family and friend.

Florene loved to make fresh bread, headcheese, and baking. She liked to talk to family on the phone and visiting daily. She liked to go to the old homestead to pick berries, puckons, plums and crab apples. She enjoyed the outdoors for the fresh breeze to be able to sit or lay in the grass to have a smoke. She liked to go for a drive to just sit in the car with windows open to talk about old memories of her childhood, family friends, relationships and the pranks of fun.

Florene is survived by her daughter Lori Myran of Portage, Canada, sibling Ramona "Chicken" LaFountain of Rolette ND, many nieces, nephews and old friends.

Florene was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary LaFountain, siblings, George LaFountain, Theresa Tetrault, Johnny LaFountain, Laura Piro, Rita LaFountain, James LaFountain, Marlene Tetrault, Virginia LaFountain, Linus "Gerald" LaFountain, Alfred "Chidad" LaFountain, Dorothy "SoSweet" Davis, Benedict "Chiman" Lafountain, and Sharon "Chi girl" LaFountain.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  A meal will follow the funeral mass in the church basement.  Burial will take place in the spring of 2025.
