FaLynn D. Ferris, age 24, of rural Rolla-Belcourt, North Dakota, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, near Fish Lake, rural Rolette County, North Dakota.

On September 2, 2001, during a back-to-school shopping trip to Minot for her siblings, Curtis and Jessica Ferris welcomed their daughter, FaLynn Daniell Ferris, into this world at Trinity Hospital. She was raised on the Ferris Ranch, just off of Houle School Road between Rolla and Belcourt. Fal was a Belcourt Bravette to her core. She began her education with a year of preschool at Turtle Mountain HeadStart, before attending kindergarten through 12th grade in the Belcourt Public School District. During her school years, FaLynn was active in numerous activities, including basketball, cross country, and band. Her athletic abilities and dedication earned her numerous awards and accomplishments throughout her years as an athlete. She was selected as prom queen her senior year and graduated in 2019.

Following high school, FaLynn earned two associate degrees from Turtle Mountain College, where she was also a member of the Mighty Mikinocks basketball team. Fal later transferred to Mayville State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education in the spring of 2026. At the time of her passing, she was a graduate student at MaSU. In recognition of her accomplishments and dedication to education, Mayville State will confer upon FaLynn an honorary master’s degree in the spring of 2027.

Education was more than a career path for FaLynn, it became her passion. Fal was working at the Turtle Mountain Middle School, where she formed meaningful connections with her students. She had a special way of making young people feel seen and cared for. Her students knew that she believed in them, and the warmth she brought into her classroom extended far beyond academics.

Family was at the heart of FaLynn’s life. She treasured the time she spent with her siblings, who were not only her family, but some of her very best friends. Fal loved being with her cousins and making memories with them, and she never needed a special occasion to enjoy the company of everyone she loved. Some of her happiest moments were spent at Fish Lake and Devils Lake. FaLynn shared a particularly strong bond with her dad, Curtis. She loved simply being with him, whether they were visiting or sitting together listening to some oldies. Then came Hassan, who entered the world and forever changed FaLynn's life. She embraced motherhood, with Hassan being her greatest joy of this life.

FaLynn had a rare gift of making people feel comfortable and cared for. No matter who you were, being around her brought a sense of warmth. She welcomed people with an open heart and treated people with love and empathy. Fal had a way of making people feel like they belonged, and her presence could brighten a room. She gave so much of herself to the people around her, and the connections she made will remain a lasting part of her legacy. Her legacy will live on through the students she inspired, the family and friends she loved so deeply, the communities she proudly represented, and most of all, through her boy, Hassan.

FaLynn leaves a legacy of love in her son, Hassan “Boy” Peltier; long-time partner, Taylor Peltier; parents, Curtis & Jessica; grandparents, Linus Poitra, and Dinah “Buffer” Breland; siblings, Tyrell “Tiberius” Poitra, Mercedes (Keith) Charbonneau, Dahlton Poitra, Sr., Hailey (Cletus Foote) Poitra, Curtis “Baby C” Ferris, Jr., and Mason “Mase” Storm Ferris; nephews, Trayton Poitra, Jaxon “Bird” Charbonneau, John “Bananas” Charbonneau, Angelo “JuneBoy” Poitra, Trigger “Buddy” Charbonneau, Dahlton “Baby Dahlt” Poitra, Jr., and Soren “Brutus” Poitra; nieces, Kiara Poitra, Elizabeth Poitra, Millie “Sissy” Charbonneau, Dakota “Kodi” Foote, Stormie “Big Mama” Poitra, and Namora “Nammy” Foote; aunts and uncles, Daniell (Cory) Poitra, Austin (Jordyn) Harris, Patricia (Glenn) Longie, Linda (Jay) Martin, Peter (Laurie) Bercier, Theresa (Michael) Higgins, Claudette (Larry) Gourneau, and Brenda (DJ) Poitra; numerous extended family, friends, and of course, her students; and pups, Odis and Olly.

In Heaven, Fal was greeted by her grandparents, Roy & Madeline Ferris, William John Gobert, and Leon & Agnes “Tonshi” Poitra; aunts and uncles, Mae Zelda Bercier, Mary Rose Bercier, Jonest (Susan) Bercier, and LeeAnn (Kenneth) Davis; cousin, Thayne Marcellais; many family and friends; and pup, Pal.

A visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Derrick Dixon Center, Belcourt, ND. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Derrick Dixon Center, Belcourt, ND. Burial will follow funeral services at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND. Father Richard Fineo presiding.
