Eugene "Johnny" Azure, age 66, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at his home.

Eugene John "Johnny" Azure was born on May 20, 1959 in Belcourt, ND to Isadore and Rose Ann (Enno) Azure.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well.  Johnny was united in marriage to Penny Davis on September 17, 1976 in Rolla.  Together they raised two sons, Cory and Levi.  Johnny worked for the Turtle Mountain Tribe in food services, working with meals on wheels.  He loved music, played the rhythm guitar, and was a singer in a band for nearly 40 years, Turtle Mountain Woodband.  Johnny enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, going to garage sales, and mowing his lawn.  He relaxed at home watching old movies on Turner Classic Broadcasting, his favorite channel.  Spending time with family and friends brought much joy to Johnny's life, as well as playing Texas Holdem when they were together.  Johnny was dearly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends.  He will be forever missed.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Penny Azure of Belcourt; sons, Cory Azure and Levi Azure, both of Belcourt; three grandchildren, Liam Azure, Avery Gourneau, and Loren Gourneau; siblings, Shirley Azure of Belcourt, Steven (Eva) Azure of Belcourt, and Theresa Carr of Wellington, NC; and nieces and nephews.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Rose Ann Azure, brothers, George and Peach, and sister, Linda Desjarlais.

A graveside burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
