Eugene Allery, age 96, of St. John, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday night at 11:30 p.m., July 12, 2025 at Quentin Burdick Health Care Facility, Belcourt, ND.

Eugene Wilburn Allery was born on July 27th, 1928 to Eugene S. and Virginia (Allard) Allery in St. John, ND.  He attended two country schools in his elementary years and attended high school in St. John.  Eugene served two years in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, was stationed in Germany, and received an honorable discharge. In November of 1953, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rita Bercier, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt, the daughter of Edward and Mary Rose (Allard) Bercier.  Together they raised two children, Brian and Carol. When they were first married, Eugene worked on the railroad and at the Air Base in Glasgow, MT.  He worked for local contractors building homes as well.  In his younger years he worked on area farms.  Eugene retired after working in maintenance at the Belcourt Hospital for several years. Eugene was good at every job, always advancing.  He and Rita always enjoyed trips to Great Falls, MT to see family, they took a family trip to Alaska, and often took rides around home together admiring wildlife in the beautiful Turtle Mountains and stopping along their travels to eat. Eugene enjoyed playing cribbage with his nephew Keith, loved hunting deer in the fall, and fishing.  He dearly loved his wife, Rita, sharing 68 years together, their two children, Brian and Carol, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as they were his whole life.  Eugene will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Eugene is survived by his son, Brian Allery of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, George Hall Jr. of Belcourt, Shaun (Shyleen) Hall of St. John, and Amanda (Chris) Laverdure of Belcourt; great grandchildren, Xander Allery of Australia, Landon Allery of Belcourt, Rhianda Allery of Belcourt, Zennon Allery of Belcourt, Zandria Gillis of Belcourt, Carol Hall of St. John, Kennedy Hall of St. John, Callan Hall of St. John, and Zyler Hall of Belcourt; siblings, George Allery of Dunseith, Joyce Gourneau of St. John, Shirley Nelson of Texas, Emma Koshney of Cando, and Mary Falcon of St. John; and many nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Virginia Allery, wife, Rita Allery, daughter, Carol Allery, grandson, Colt Allery, and siblings, Louis Allery, Marjorie Harviell, and Bernice Thibert.

Casket Bearers are Landon Allery, Zennon Allery, Keith Harviell, Shaun Hall, Chris Laverdure, and George Hall Jr. Honorary Bearers are all great grandchildren. Eucharistic Gifts by Paula Parisien and Amanda Laverdure. Readers are Janelle Harviell and Roxanne Baker.  Music by Kevin Jeanotte, Bennett Jeanotte, and Eugene "Dolly" Belgarde. Military Honors by the Lilley-Dionne American Legion Post #262 of Belcourt and Military Funeral Honor Guard of Fargo, ND.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow funeral services at Holy Cross Cemetery, St. John, ND.  Father Richard Fineo presiding.
