Erma Mickelson, age 88, of Rolla, ND passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at SMP St. Kateri Hospital, Rolla, ND.

Erma Addie (Cain) Mickelson was born on November 8, 1932 in Hutchinson Township, ND to Warren S. and Gladys L. (Geer) Cain.  She was raised in the St. John area and completed her education there as well.  Erma was united in marriage to Carl Mickelson on May 12, 1949 in Cando, ND.  Together they raised six children, Ed, Edie, Dave, Shirley, Dot, and Bob.  Erma and Carl raised cattle and farmed together for many years.  She was a wonderful, hard-working mother and wife who cared deeply for her family.  After raising her family, Erma remained busy by being an active member of the Rolla Legion Auxiliary and Our Saviors Lutheran Church, being a church council member and in other church related activities.  In her younger years, Erma enjoyed bowling and golfing.  She was an avid quilter, supplying her loving family and friends with quilts and also donating quilts to worthy causes such as the Metigoshe Ministries auctions and donations to veterans.  Many church members have also been gifted with a quilt made by the church community quilting group that Erma was so active with.  Erma will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Erma is survived by her children, Ed (Rhoda) Mickelson of Rolla, Dave (Tam) Mickelson of Bismarck, Shirley (Jim) Tome of Florida, Dot (Ted) Guderjahn of Bisbee, and Bob (Judy) Mickelson of Cando; 12 grandchildren, Allison Porsborg, Brittany Wald, Elizabeth Mickelson, Annie Harbison, Bridget Lowry, Dan Mickelson, Nicole Mickelson, Nick Aberle, Matt Aberle, Jake Aberle, Rachael Held, and John Carl Mickelson; 12 great grandchildren, Brandon, Alara, Kari, Jayden, Taylor, Ben, Adysn, Wyatt, Ava, Anna, Elizabeth, and Thomas; a great great granddaughter, Audra Lynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Gladys Cain, husband, Carl Mickelson, daughter, Edie Harbison, granddaughter, Amanda Guderjahn, sisters, Isabelle, Evelyn, Ida, Sarah, Melinda, Myrtie, Grace, Gladys, Jenny, and Doveline, and brothers, Toby, Johnny, Duke, Frank, and Albert.

Casket Bearers are Ted Guderjahn, Rich Rodgers, Dan Mickelson, John Carl Mickelson, Rusty Cain, and Brandon Guderjahn.  Honorary Bearers are Rod Ostby, Jeff Huovinen, Chuck Huovinen, Tami Huovinen, and Tom Rutledge.  Music by Tim Mickelson.

A Family Service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 7:00 PM at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, ND.  Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND.  Burial will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery, Rolla, ND.  Pastor Nicholas Rohde officiating.
