Elvis A Norquay age 63 of Rolette, North Dakota passed away on March 12, 2021 at his home.
Elivs A Norquay was born on June 2, 1957 in Belcourt North Dakota to Reuben and Flora (Henry) Norquay. He attended school in Wahpeton, then proceeded to graduate at the Flandreau Indian School. After graduation he enrolled into the marines. Elvis was truly proud of being a marine veteran. He fought for the voting rights for Native Americans, doing so he traveled all the way to Washington D.C. He worked at Sky Dancer Casino for several years as a blackjack dealer. Elivs was a kind and generous man. He has so many friends that were like family to him. He loved being a family man, playing cards, and cooking meals especially on the holidays. Elvis enjoyed watching football on Sundays, he was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan. Elvis was united in marriage to Marla (Dubois) Norquay on September 9, 1999. Elvis had 2 children Andrew Lafomboise, Mandy Dumont and 6 stepchildren that he raised as his own Maggie Dubois, Michelle Gourneau, Jason Azure, Roberta Azure, Adam Azure, and Matthew Dubois. Elvis had many grandchildren, he especially had a strong bond with his grandchild Mariah Gourneau. Elvis and Marla were so close to Mariah they raised her since she was a young girl. Elvis loved to play at the casino, and always found the time to go visit his oldest granddaughter Neon Leonard. He will be dearly missed by all his family, especially his grandchildren and held close to our hearts, till we see each other again.
Elvis was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leslie Norquay, Wesley Norquay, sisters Jennie Parsien, June Standing Chief, niece Bridget Gonzales, grandson Noah Gourneau, and granddaughter Angel Gourneau. Elvis was also preceded in death with a very close friend and father-in-law Robert E Dubois.
Wake was held on March 17, 2021 at the Fiddlers Hall. There will be a spring burial at White Stone Indian Cemetery on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 3:30 PM. (which will include a meal and stories about this great man.)
