Ellen Marie LaFrombois, 65, of Belcourt ND started her spiritual journey on April 10 ^th , 2022 at her home.

Ellen Marie (Slater) LaFrombois was born July 18, 1956, in Belcourt, ND to Francis and Rose Ann (Willkie) Slater. She was raised in St. John and completed her education at Belcourt High School. She furthered her education at TMCC by taking Business Administration classes for 2 years. She was united in marriage to Louis Lafrombois on November 2, 1996 in Belcourt.  Ellen was the mother of two stepsons, Edward (Amy) Lafrombois and Louis Lafrombois Jr. (Tashelia), and a special daughter, Rose (Brandin) Kuntz. Ellen worked for the Times newspaper when she was younger and the Turtle Mountain Manufacturing Plant. She worked there until illness forced her to retire.

When Ellen was younger, she enjoyed riding horses and the family tradition of horse racing with her dad and mom. She was an avid rock collector since a very young age, along with collecting bells and ceramic chickens, and diamond-cut led crystal. Later in her golden years, she enjoyed playing Pinochle with her sister, Rhonda and Roland. She also loved Gunsmoke, Frasier, and mostly old westerns.

She loved to cook for the holidays with family and Halloween was always her favorite to celebrate. Ellen will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.

Ellen is survived by her husband; stepson, Edward (Amy) LaFrombois of Belcourt, ND and stepson, Louis LaFrombois Jr (Tushelia) of Trenton, ND; special daughter, Rose (Brandin) Kuntz, Dunseith, ND; all her grandchildren, Bryson, Kail, Abby, Jaida, Kinsley, Lexi, Kyle, Bryan; godchildren, Michelle Keplin, Valene Slater, Francine (Penny), Brandin Kuntz; and sister, Rhonda (Roland) Gourneau of Belcourt, ND.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Rose Ann Slater, brother, Lance Slater, sister, Sherry Slater, grandparents, John and Mary Slater, Louis and Eliza (Decoteau) Wilkie, and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:30 AM and rosary service at 9:30 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Father Tony Hession, SOLT presiding.  Burial will take place at a later date.

Urn Bearer is Cory F. Gourneau Sr.  Honorary Urn Bearers are all family and friends.  Eucharistic Gifts by Rosie and Brandin Kuntz.  Rosary led by Sandy and Gary Thomas.  Readers are Brenda Slater, Sheylenne Gourneau, and Shellie Bercier.
