Elinor Marcil, age 96, of Cando, ND formerly of St. John and Rolla, ND passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Towner County Living Center, Cando, ND.

Elinor Roberta Marcil was born on September 28, 1925 in Winnipeg, MB to George and Ann Blair.  She was raised in Winnipeg and completed her education there as well.  Elinor was united in marriage to George Marcil on December 29, 1950.  Together they raised two sons, Spencer and Curtis.  Elinor and her husband purchased the Border Bar in St. John in 1946, owning and operating it for 27 years.  Following the sale of the bar business, they opened and operated a fabric, craft and drapery business in Rolla, Spinning Wheel Fabrics.  They spent many happy and wonderful summers at their cabin at Lake Upsilon.  Elinor enjoyed knitting and politics.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Elinor is survived by her sons, Spencer (Betty) Marcil of California and Curtis Marcil of South Dakota.

Elinor was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ann Blair, husband, George Marcil, and six sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND.
