Eliane LaRocque, age 78, of Dunseith, ND passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Elaine Fay LaRocque was born on October 12, 1946 in Belcourt, ND to Alex and Margaret (Azure) LaRocque.  She was raised in Belcourt and completed her education there as well.  She later completed trade school in California.  Elaine returned to Belcourt and continued to work at various places such as Turtle Mountain Community College, Indian Health Service, San Haven, KEYA, Save the Children, Uniband, bar waitress, and as a tribal election chairperson for numerous years.  She was united in marriage to Garry Martin LaRocque on August 2nd, 1969 and she was the proud mother of three children, Daena, Candace, and Garry. Her home was open to many children who had great respect for her.  Elaine spent countless hours with her sister, Shirley.  They were two peas in a pod.  They enjoyed dining out at Dales, Reid's Place, and Utterstop, attending local music festivals, and going to the casino together.  Elaine enjoyed singing, playing guitar, playing softball with her teammates, the Hillbillies, playing cards, camping, and cooking.  Elaine will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Elaine is survived by her children, Daena (Robert) Morin of Dunseith, Candace LaRocque of Dunseith, and Garry J. LaRocque of Hansboro; 13 grandchildren, Sean Davis, Eric Davis, Shirlaine Longie, Margaret "Maggie" Longie, Tyson LaRocque, Alex LaRocque, Jurney LaRocque, Sada LaRocque, Brian Poitra, Garry LaRocque, Michael LaRocque, Alex LaRocque, and Angela LaRocque; many great grandchildren; siblings, Delbert 'Pepper" LaRocque of Devils Lake, Stephen "Cheech" LaRocque of Belcourt, Darrell (Gayle) LaRocque of Belcourt, and David (Judy) LaRocque of Belcourt; and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Margaret LaRocque, husband, Garry Margin LaRocque, great grandchild, Tyleah LaRocque, siblings, Pat LaRocque, Mona Champagne, Harold "Twin" LaRocque, Pricilla LaRocque, Darlene LaRocque, Mrytle Ann LaRocque, Baby Girl LaRocque, Shirley Lenoir, Jeanette LaRocque, Keith LaRocque, and Allen LaRocque, and sister-in-law, Barbara LaRocque.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will take place in the spring of 2025 at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
