Earl DeCoteau Sr., age 67, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at his home.

Earl Joseph DeCoteau Sr. was born on November 13, 1958 in Belcourt, ND to Frank and Beatrice (Baker) DeCoteau.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well.  Earl was united in marriage to Karen Charette on April 11, 1980 in Rolla, ND.  Together they raised five children, Jesse, Jessica, Lynn, Earl Jr., and Monique.  Earl worked for the Turtle Mountain Housing Authority in Belcourt.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and working in his yard.  He also liked playing cards with family and friends.  Earl loved time spent with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.  Earl had a wonderful sense of humor bringing a smile to all of those around him. He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.

Earl Sr. is survived by his loving wife, Karen DeCoteau of Belcourt; children, Earl Jr. (Teesha) DeCoteau, Jesse (Jana) DeCoteau, Jessica (Ashley Smith) DeCoteau, Lynn DeCoteau, and Monique (Devon) DeCoteau, all of Belcourt; 12 grandchildren, Ashley (AJ) Smith, Klea Gillis, Sadie Smith, Keeley Gillis, Ethan DeCoteau, Ty Smith, Shaelyn Wilkie, Kilynn Gillis, Jersey Smith, Tayleigh DeCoteau, Kesha DeCoteau, and Grayson DeCoteau; many great grandchildren; siblings, Denise DeCoteau, Julie DeCoteau, Anita DeCoteau, and Fabian (JoAnn) DeCoteau, all of Belcourt; and nieces and nephews.

Earl Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank DeDoteau Jr., Steven DeCoteau, and Peter DeCoteau, and a sister, Frances DeCoteau.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.  Father Michael Slovak, SOLT presiding.
