Dorothy Olson, age 96, died Sunday, September 28, 2025 at the Edgewood Senior Living Facility in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Dorothy May Eckerdt was born on October 30, 1928 to Conrad and Carrie (Martin) Eckerdt. She was raised and graduated high school in the Sarles, ND area. On November 14, 1947, Dorothy was joined in marriage to Glenn Olson in Rolla, ND. They made their home on the Olson farm in Sidney Township, Towner County. They were active members of the All Nations Lutheran Church in Rock Lake, ND.

Glenn and Dorothy were avid square dancers for over forty years and attended dances all over North Dakota and Canada where they made many lifelong friends. Dorothy was also an accomplished quilter and made many beautiful quilts for her sons and grandkids.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in 1997. After Glenn's death, Dorothy moved to a house in Rock Lake where she lived for 20 years. Dorothy loved to walk and she could often be seen walking around the perimeter of the town to get her exercise. After turning 90, Dorothy moved to the Parkview Assisted Living Facility in Rolla. Three years later she moved to Edgewood Memory Care in Jamestown.

Dorothy's survivors include 3 sons, Keith and his wife Gloria of Plano, Texas, Edward and his wife Jacqueline of Naperville, Illinois, and Harlan and his wife Linda of Carrington, North Dakota. Dorothy was also blessed with 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Doris Eckes, Kenneth Eckerdt, and Veryl Eckerdt.

A private family funeral will be held. Burial will be at the Rolla City Cemetery, Rolla, ND next to her husband Glenn. Pastor Scott Ramey officiating.
