Dorothy Desjarlais, age 73, of Dunseith, ND passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Essentia Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Dorothy Marie "Moo" Desjarlais was born on January 9, 1949 in Belcourt, ND to Norman and Alice (Belgarde) Demery.  She was raised in Dunseith and completed her education there as well.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Joseph Michael Desjarlais on February 17, 1982 in Belcourt.  She was the proud mother ten children, Rocky, Alvin, Myron, Bobby, Kimberly, Laurie, Bradley, Wendy, Dustin, and Breezy.  Dorothy also raised six grandchildren who called her mom, Jason Demery, Travis Demery, Joeneisha Demery, Jennifer Short, Myron Henry, and Dorothy Henry.  She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, as well as a foster mother to many.  She loved her family dearly and was so very proud of them all.  Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren made her so happy.   Dorothy worked as a foster parent for many years.  She liked going for evening rides, especially her to visit her friends in Willow City and Bottineau.  Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors planting her garden when she was able, listening to karaoke, and cooking.  She was a wonderful cook and all of her family and friends were gifted with her talent.  Dorothy will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Rocky Demery of Minot, Alvin Demery of Dunseith, Myron Demery of Fargo, Bobby Demery of Fargo, Kimberly (Lynn) DeCoteau of Dunseith, Laurie Demery of Dunseith, Bradley Demery of Dunseith, Wendy Demery of Dunseith, Dustin (Jen) Desjarlais of Dunseith, and Breezy (Tyler) Scott of Dunseith; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Ernestine LaFountain of Fargo, Theresa Demery-LaFountain of Dunseith, and Linda K. Demery-Vallie of Rolla; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Alice Demery, husband, Joseph Michael Desjarlais, granddaughters, Tiffany Demery-Fluhrer and Cameron Miller, brothers, Melvin, Charles, Bill, Fred, Floyd, and Larry Demery, and sisters, Sarah Demery and Irene Demery-DeCoteau.

Casket Bearers are Tyler Scott, Jason Demery, Lynn DeCoteau, Zachary Brunelle, Bobby Demery, Rocky Demery, and Alvin Demery.

A visitation will begin at 5 PM on Monday, June 6, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Dunseith, ND with a Rosary Service at 7 PM.  Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 10 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Dunseith, ND.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Dunseith, ND.
