Donna Martin, age 71, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at her home.

Donna Marie (Moore) Martin was born on May 9 ^th , 1950 to Wesley Moore and Marie (Davis) Blue in Belcourt, ND.  She was the youngest sibling of three older sisters, Judy, Vivian and Shirley.

Donna was two years old when she went to Tekawitha Boarding School in South Dakota.  She attended school there until she finished 8 ^th grade.  At that time, she moved to Belcourt where she attended Turtle Mountain Community High School.  She later relocated to Washington state and lived with her oldest sister, Judy, working and helping with her nephews and nieces for a brief period before returning to the Turtle Mountains.

Donna met the love of her life, John Martin, while she was in high school.  Upon her return from Washington, Donna and John married on May 8 ^th , 1970. Shortly after getting married, Donna and John welcomed their daughter, Terri Jean, into the world. They moved to Mississippi for a short duration where John worked as a welder. They returned to Belcourt and had their son, John Joseph. Donna lived the remainder of her life in Martinville in the Belcourt area. Although their family was complete with Terri and John-John, Donna and John opened their home and helped raise nieces, nephews, and many of their children's friends.

Donna lived for her family and she put them above all else-- always.  She provided a warmth that only a mom could.  When she became a grandmother, she made sure that she helped to raise her grandchildren. John and Donna bought a big house so that all the grandchildren could come and stay with them.  It was rare to go to their home and not find her grandchildren near her; they were the light of her life.  When she wasn't taking care of her grandchildren, she often cared for family members, including her mom, Marie, her mother-in-law, Flora, and in the later years of her life, her husband, John.

There were many things that Donna enjoyed.  She was an avid watcher of game shows and could make any of them into a friendly competition with anyone who was in the room with her.  She also loved watching criminal investigation shows; John would often tease her and say that she should have been an investigator.  During her younger years, she enjoyed going to the casino and on occasion, doubling her money.  She also enjoyed playing guitar and singing, mostly Loretta Lynn.  She would often do this during family gatherings and family camping trips at the lakes.

Donna is survived by her daughter Terri (Todd) Martin-Parisien, grandchildren Alyssa, Todd Jr (Alexis), Tahni (Cole), Sunni and MijahJo, great grandchildren Nora and Joseph, sister and best friend Shirley Trottier, Aunt Christine Knight and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Donna was preceeded in death by her husband, John Francis Martin, Sr, son John-John Martin, parents Wesley Moore and Marie Davis Blue, sisters Judy LaFontaine and Vivian Norman, in-laws Flora and Hank Martin, sister-in-laws Carol (Ike) Ransford, Judy Sperry, Janet (Michael "Wobby") Lenior, brother-in-laws John Trottier, Richard "Butch" (Bernadette "Bunny") Martin, Henry "Mokey" Martin, and Leslie LaFontaine, nephews John Henry, Kit, David, great nephews Craig and Harley, great nieces Savannah and Everly and many cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 1:00 PM at her home, 502 Martinville Loop, Belcourt, ND.
