Diane Malaterre, age 73, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

Diane Marie (Barron) Malaterre was born on May 1, 1948 to Joseph and Alvina (Bercier) Barron in Rolla, ND. There she attended school up to the 8 ^th grade and later at the age of 50, she graduated from the Turtle Mountain Community College with her GED. Diane was united in marriage to Kenneth (Papa Joe) Malaterre and together they had 5 children: Cindy, Kenny (Bugger), Johnny, Donald (Ducko), and Ronald (Porky). Diane and Joe were also foster parents for many children. Their home was always opened to all the neighborhood children. They raised their family in Belcourt, ND.

In her younger years, Diane worked as a waitress at Lena Wayne's Pool Hall in Rolla, ND. She later bartended at Tomahawk Bar and Horsemans Bar in Belcourt, ND. She also worked as a main bank cashier at the casino for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, gambling, fixing puzzles, social media, and she was an avid fan of Walker Texas Ranger in which she never missed an episode. Her favorite past time was spending time with her family, friends, and her pets. Diane nurtured a unique bond with each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Diane is survived by her children, Cindy (Arlin) Blacklance, Kenny "Bugger", Johnny, Donald "Ducko" (Sherry Lavallie) Malaterre, and Ronald (Erika) Malaterre, all of Belcourt; 15 grandchildren, Chad, Austin, Vincent "Pooh", Kayla, Shayla, Chenae, Jonathan, Kelly, MacKenzie, Donald "Dj", Koy, Kylin, Sahrya, Torrie, and Savannah.; 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Betty Braun, Carla (Dennis) Horpestad, both of Langdon, and Joey (Tammy) Barron of Glenburn; Sisters-in-Law, Theresa "Tessie" Malaterre, Gloria Malaterre both of Belcourt; Brother-in-Law, Bill Allard of Rolla; and many nieces and nephews.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Joe" Malaterre; Parents Joseph and Alvina Barron; Siblings Lucy (Frank) Agnes, Louie Barron Sr, and Lavern Barron.

Casket Bearers are Kenny "Bugger" Malaterre, John Malaterre, Donald "Ducko" Malaterre, Ronald "Porky" Malaterre, Chad Grant, Austin Grant, Donald "DJ" Malaterre and Arlin Blacklance.  Pall placed by Kayla Malaterre, Shayla Malaterre, Kelly Malaterre, Savannah Malaterre, Chenae Charbonneau, Kylin Malaterre, Tori Malaterre, and Sahrya Malaterre.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M.  Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 14, 2021at 10:00 A.M. in the church. Burial will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND. A meal will follow at Fiddler's Hall in Belcourt, ND.
