Delcie Rita
Jerome
Mar 26, 1934 — Oct 16, 2020
Delcie Jerome, age 86, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Presentation Medical Center, Rolla, ND.
Delcie Rita (Bruce) Jerome was born on March 26, 1934 in Belcourt, ND to Donald and Marie (Azure) Bruce. She was raised in Belcourt and lived there most of her life. Delcie met Joseph Jerome and they were united in marriage on August 18, 1953 at St. Ann's Catholic Church and remained married for 65 years. Delcie was the proud mother of four children, Terry, Randy, Peggy, and Gaileen.
Delcie obtained most of her education in Belcourt, she attended elementary at Great Walker School, two years of high school in Stephan, SD, and graduated as Salutatorian from Belcourt High School in 1953. Delcie furthered her education and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree from UND in 1973. She held various jobs, starting at the Tastee Freeze, then Nurse's Aide at San Haven, Jewel Plant, Post Office, Turtle Mountain Elementary as a Teacher's Aide, a Student Activities advisor under Ron Witt, a Teacher at the Ojibwa Indian School, and a Cultural Teacher at Turtle Mountain Elementary as well. She taught within several school systems and finally retired after 35 years of working in education.
Delcie very much loved being in the kitchen cooking and baking especially for family gatherings. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, doing crafts, spending time with good friends (Phyllis Cartwright & Putch Frederick) during their lunches every Wednesday, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She took great pride in not only being a mother, but being a wonderful grandmother, a caring auntie, sister, niece and friend. Delcie was a true woman of her faith and practiced the Catholic religion. She was a teacher in so many facets of life to everyone who played a part in her life, she knew she was the matriarch to so many that would take her lead and what she taught them and to use what they learned down the road in their own lives. She truly loved her family, although she was a strong headed woman, she had her opinions and wasn't afraid to express them to her kids, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When she spoke, everyone listened. Her love for her children and grandchildren was truly unconditional.
Delcie is survived by her children, Terry (Becky) Jerome, Randy (LaVon) Jerome, Peggy (Pat) Keplin, and Gaileen (Elmer Jr.) Davis; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Alta (Bruce) Nadeau.
