Obituary

Deborah Bercier, age 72, of Stanley, ND formerly of St. John, ND passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Mountrail County Medical Center, Stanley, ND.

Deborah Theresa Bercier was born on September 8, 1951 in St. John, ND to Joseph and Ernestine (LaFountain) Bercier.  She was raised in the Belcourt and St. John area and completed her education there as well.  Deborah was the proud mother of eight children, Ernestine, Louis, Lisa, Nicole, Jennifer, Heather, Kimberly, and James.  She was a wonderful homemaker and was as "mom" and "grandma" to her children and grandchildren as well as many others throughout her life. Deborah loved animals, working on crafts, embroidery, playing pinochle, listening to music, and watching her favorite football team the San Fransico 49ers.  She was a collector of porcelain dolls and stuffed animals.  Deborah held close to her faith throughout the years and recited the Rosary often.  She loved time spent with her family members and enjoyed visiting with them often.  Deborah was a gifted baker and will be remembered for her peanut butter bars, her soups, and her bread making.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Deborah is survived by her children, Ernestine Frederick of Newtown, Louis (Sherri) Frederick of Parshall, Lisa (David) Butcher of Newtown, Nicole (Alfred) DeCoteau of Newtown, Jennifer (David) Morin of Newtown, Heather Harmon of Minot, Kimberly Harmon of Minot, and James Charette of Macoti; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Bobby Bercier of Dunseith, Bradley Bercier of Bismarck, Tommy (Sugar) Bercier of Belcourt, Beverly Sturm of Minot, Rosie Bercier of Bismarck, and Barbara Poff of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ernestine Bercier and brothers, Jimmy, Gary, Darrell, Linus, and Ben Bercier.

Casket Bearers are Alfred "AJ" DeCoteau Jr., Michael "MJ" Charette, Christopher Bercier, Nate LaVallie, Sal Bercier, and Alfred DeCoteau.  Eucharistic Gifts by Tiffany Harmon and Kelsey DeCoteau.  Readers are Whitney Lilley and JoAnne Lilley. Rosary led by Lacey Power.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John, ND with Father Richard Fineo presiding.  Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, St. John, ND in the spring.
