Dean Alan Parvey passed away peacefully at his home on March 24, 2025, at the age of 65.

He was born on October 10, 1959, in Rolla, North Dakota.  He arrived in the middle of a huge snowstorm, which maybe sparked his lifelong love of all things weather and nature.

Dean attended Sarles Elementary and graduated from Border Central High School in Calvin in 1978.  After high school, Dean attended the University of North Dakota from 1978 to 1981.  Thereafter, he obtained his private pilot's license.  Dean farmed from 1978 to 1990, before moving to Rolla to work at William Langer Jewel Plant.  He and his family moved to Grand Forks in 1993, where he continued his work for various farmers.

In 1996, Dean established Parvey Trucking. He proudly trucked throughout the Midwest for the next 20 years, before retiring in 2016.  Retirement didn't really suit him though, and he continued to work in farming until 2021.

Dean married Cheryl in 1982. He was a very proud dad to his favorite son, Eric, and his favorite daughter, Rachel.  After Dean and Cheryl divorced in 2004, Dean moved to his haven, his shack by the lake, in Devils Lake, where he continued to live for the next 20 years.  Dean might not have always known the hottest fishing spots, but he would gladly take you out on the lake to try to find them anyway.

Dean was a man of many hobbies.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, fishing, hunting, and camping.  His greatest joy was spent doing yardwork and planting the many, many trees around his yard.  He could (and did) tell you why each one of them was special to him.  Dean's many cats and dogs through the years were also near and dear to his heart.  He wasn't often found without a dog by his side.  He thoroughly enjoyed feeding and watching birds at his shack, which always brought him peace.

Dean loved music and attending concerts.  He couldn't be in the kitchen without the under-cabinet radio blaring, usually with Dean singing at the top of his lungs right along with it.  He enjoyed trying to stump his kids about which bands sang which songs, and he was always happy to pop on a good video of an old show (when he wasn't watching westerns.)

Dean's grandchildren brought out the very best in him, and he lit up whenever they were around.  His sass, love, and quirks will be deeply missed, especially by them.

Dean is survived by his son, Eric (Shannon) Parvey and grandchildren, Owen, EJ, and Mya; daughter, Rachel (Garrett) Stoner; three brothers, Larry Parvey, Rodney (Carol) Parvey, and Dennis (Renae) Parvey, and one sister, Jan (Ray) Stenmoen, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lillian Parvey.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM prior to funeral services in the church.  Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating.  Burial will take place in the spring at Mount View Cemetery, Rock Lake, ND.
