David Houle Sr., age 59, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at his home.

David Allan Houle Sr. was born on February 20, 1961, the son of Earl Houle Sr. and Annie Marion (Delorme) in Breckenridge, MN.  He attended his elementary and high school years in the Turtle Mountain Schools.  Dave graduated from Turtle Mountain High School in 1979 and was involved in wrestling.  He worked at various jobs throughout his high school years, and thereafter continued his education at North Dakota State college of Science, Wahpeton, in 1981 graduating with a degree as a Master Mechanic, his specialty was in transmission repair.

Dave and Becky were married in July of 1982.  Together they had 4 children, Melanie Houle, Felicia (Kevin) Cote, David (ChiVi) Houle, and John Houle.  Dave worked at Rensch Chevrolet in New Town after college.  Then he worked at Theels for about 10 years.  He built his own business from the ground up in the early 90's.

Dave had a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping.  These events were made special as the whole family and many friends were involved.  Most of his enjoyment and love came from having his grandchildren and children surround him.  Dave got a kick out of playing jokes on family and friends, all in the spirit of a good laugh.  It was his purpose in life to bring joy and laughter with his stories, jokes, and tricks.

Dave is survived by his children, Melanie, Felicia, David Jr., and John Sr.; his mother, Lilly; sisters, Linda (Dale) Smith, Barbara Houle, Elizabeth (Beau) Gourneau, Doris (Keith) Ayala, Libia (Stan Thomas) Peltier, and Lorraine (Napoleon) Laverdure; brothers, Earl (Velma) Houle Jr. and William Houle; thirteen grandchildren, Tristin, Darrion, Gavin, Winter, Koda, Kyle, Aubry, Emma, Aaron, Catherine, Andrew, John Jr., and Mary; and his Godchildren, Cedric DeCoteau, Terri Marie Peltier, and Steve Patneaud.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Houle Sr., grandparents, Albert and Emma Houle and Pete and Ida Delorme, and brother's-in-law, Terry Peltier and Corbert Patneaud.

Casket Bearers are David Houle Jr., William Houle, Earl Houle Jr., John Houle Sr., Billy Houle, and Cedric DeCoteau.  Honorary Bearers are all of Dave's family and friends.  Music by Jeff Laducer.  Reader is Scott Peltier.

A visitation will begin at 6:30 PM on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM, Father Michael Slovak presiding.  Funeral Mass will be Monday, September 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the church with Fr. Tony Hession presiding.  Burial will follow in the Houle Family Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.  A meal will follow burial at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.
