David Champagne, age 62, of Dunseith, ND passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at his home.

David Louis Champagne was born on June 2, 1962 in Minot, ND to Joseph and Margaret (LaVallie) Champagne.  He was raised near Dunseith and completed his education there as well. He was united in marriage to Marita Peltier on September 13, 1996 at St. Mary's Church in Dunseith.  He was the proud stepfather of three children, Mary, Vanessa, and Willard.  David worked to the Turtle Mountain Tribe as a carpenter for many years.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.  David liked carpentry, auto mechanics, plumbing, and welding.  He enjoyed spending his spare time at the casino.  David loved time spent with his family, his wife, stepchildren, and siblings.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

David is survived by his wife, Marita Champagne of Dunseith; stepchildren, Mary Champagne and Willard Peltier, both of Dunseith; mother, Margaret Champagne of Dunseith; siblings, Gloria Champagne of Belcourt, George Champagne of Dunseith, Daniel Champagne of Belcourt, and Sandra Champagne of Belcourt; and nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Champagne, stepdaughter, Vanessa, granddaughter, Destiny, and brother, Richard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow in St. Benedict's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND. Father Richard Fineo presiding.
