Obituary

David Baker, age 41, of Rolla, ND entered the spirit world on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at SMP-St. Kateri Hospital, Rolla, ND.

David Alec Baker, Gichi Animikiigaa Aanakwad “Big Thunder Cloud”, was born on May 31, 1985 in Belcourt, ND to Henry “Soc” Baker and Geraldine (Blue) Baker. David was the youngest of five children, Elaine, Carl, Brenda, and Terry. David attended Turtle Mountain Community School from the time he entered into kindergarten until he graduated high school in 2004. David loved being with his family and friends, attending Pow-wows, and visiting with everyone. He loved working on his own regalia and drumming at Pow-wows with different groups. He made friends while attending Pow-wows, he grew close with one of the drum groups that would come Canada, the Kawacatoose boys from Saskatchewan. He called them brothers and they treated him like family.

He was a very happy person and had a golden personality, David sure enjoyed life and all it had to offer. One of his favorite things was talking on the phone, calling everyone 10x a day, and he also loved his Dr. Pepper. David enrolled into Kalix on June 1, 2006 and that is where he made his home for 20 years. He made a lot of friends while in the program. He loved attending community events such as Elders Bingo, Turtle Mountain Days, Dunseith Days, listening to KEYA, and last but not least going to the North 40 on Fridays.

David loved attending family functions, everyone that knew David knew he loved to laugh and tease, joking around with everyone was his fun time, his personality would light up a room. He was always welcoming and wasn’t afraid to talk to anyone. He could remember everyone he came in contact with. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
