Darrell R. Champagne was born on July 7, 1958 in Belcourt, ND to Raymond R. and Eileen (Shellum) Champagne.  He was raised in Belcourt and competed his education there as well. Darrell furthered his education for a short time at Dakota College at Bottineau in Bottineau, ND.  He was united in marriage to Debbie Gunville on July 31, 1982 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt.  Together they raised two sons, Dustin James and Devon Jacob.  Darrell worked for the Turtle Mountain Tribe for many years in different positions, currently as a Community Health Representative (CHR) for the past 20 plus years. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his many golf buddies. He was an active member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church. He also truly enjoyed his almost daily trips to Walmart to do a little shopping, but mainly to visit the many family & friends he would run into. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was ready to strike up a conversation with anyone he was around.  His many friendships were a testament to his character. Darrell was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Vikings, the Boston Celtics, and the Duke Blue Devils. Darrell loved spending time with his wife, sons, family members and friends.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all the lives he touched.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Debbie Champagne of Belcourt; siblings, Paula Larson of Rolette, Cherie Gunville of St. John, Holly Gunville of Belcourt, and Bryant Champagne of Belcourt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
