Darlene LaRocque, age 71, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt, ND.

Darlene Marie was born on November 8, 1951 at Belcourt to Jimmie LaRocque and Bernadine (Brunelle) LaRocque. She attended and graduated high school at Immaculate Conception Indian Mission, Stephen, South Dakota. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree at University of South Dakota in 1974.

Darlene worked as a Psychologist in Minot, ND and a teacher at Mandaree, ND on the Mandan Hidatsa and Arikara reservation. There she adopted to a traditional culture and began making native crafts. She was also an instructor in the Belcourt schools for many years. She was loved by many of her students and their families and known for her generosity and kindness.

She enjoyed playing cards and board games with family and friends often laughing and playing all night long. Darlene loved animals and always had pets.

Darlene is survived by brothers, James "Cubby" LaRocque, Lynn LaRocque, Brian LaRocque and Brent LaRocque, all of Belcourt ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Arne LaRocque.

A Mass of Christian Burial be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will take place in the spring.
